  Pageants are not only for the good-looking people. It pays to be ugly at a contest known as 'Reign of the Ugly' which takes place every three years in Bogota, Colombia.
  
  Under the motto 'Being Ugly Pays' and with the only requirement of being ugly, the contest in its third year running saw 19 participants compete for USD550 (SGD690) cash prize and kisses from beautiful women on February 25.
  
  During the contest, every participant showed his ugliest aspect.
  
  In the end, a 42-year-old street vendor named Jesús Héctor Gallo with large eyes and disproportionate ears was crowned as the King of Ugly and he vowed to 'continue to be ugly'.
