Their service sux and they probably have a team of totally inept designers.
Scenario:
I need a banner printed, have got 5 correctly sized images (180dpi and correct dimension), all they need to do is put the images together in 1 file and get it printed. Clarified with the boss there, he said ok.. no problem.. no need for extra charges.
Problem arises:
Called up to inform me that the images were too big to fit on the banner. I asked if they could just shrink the entire image down proportionally till it fits, they said ok.
Fax from Art Sign:
They faxed the image of the banner over asking for signing off, and scribbled on the paper that there will be a $30 charge for artwork.
The telephone call:
Asked why the $30 charge... boss said the designer spent 2 hrs to shrink the images down to size.... CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? It takes 2 whole hours to click on (for those familiar with Photoshop) Image>Image size and scale it down by a little.
I then asked why wasn't I informed of the additional charge during the phone call, and he said, "Oh, you mean my designer didn't tell you?"
"I think $30 just to resize is too unreasonable, I'll do it myself and get a courier to send it down for $8"
"In that case, how are you going to compensate me for the 2 hrs of work?"
Hello!!!!??! Can you believe this boss?? First he tries to con me into thinking it takes 2 hrs to resize an image, even when I told him that I'm proficient with Photoshop and knows it can't take 2 hrs.... (for the record... I did the changes on my own within 5 mins)..... he still insisted that it takes 2 hrs.. and began rattling off all the things that need to be done.. manz...
That place is a con shop..... don't ever go there...
Anyone have a similar bad experience with Art Sign?? Please post here.... -
I havent never been to that shoppe before ... because I avoid printing services that has cigarette smells on them (biased I know, but it really doesnt bring about the professionalism for a print business)
I'm sorry that you had to go through all that trouble ... honestly a print shouldnt cost more than 10 droolars .... Thats why I dont go to bras basah anymore instead if you walk a few mins to city hall you could have a much better service at Graffiti. (no, I'm not getting a commision out of this btw, I am recommending because I really do like the shoppe there) But I like the service there, professional, conceise and best of all, its cheap :-)

Heck ... I carry their name card and recommend this place to whomever that is intersted in printing, and if you have a student card, you will get a discount too on top of that.

So in the end, did u pay for the artwork as they claimed ($30...or should it be $31.20 for GST?)
