BLOCK TEACHING: A Curse to da Design Skool?

thanx to da director of da skool, we r all on dis new system called 'Block Teaching' dis semester.
da system is like a sec sch system of hvg da same subject every day for 5 wks continuously.
personally, i think da system is quite terok lor. it's makin' da students like robots but da director is quite proud of it in his comm. obviously, he isn't a designer so dunno what he is doin'
gd thing i'm not gg to b in da skool for too long
but i pity da freshies, man

I think the block teaching has its own good and bad points la. Good as in you don't need to chiong 7 to 8 projects during the submission week. Bad becasue now 15 weeks are crammed into 15days.
Personally I rather like the block teaching because I got things to chiong now everyday. Haha my friends say I am "bian tai" though. =.= -

NOT FAIR LO. The Basic Photography in VSC is so demanding, come back during holiday to develop film AND photo. Wah kao, even O Level not this type of stress! Some more the photo sometimes come out not nice, must friggin redo!!!! CRIES. -

i guess if u wan to become production dezigner then BT ok lah but not when u wan to become a thinking one. the crammed time juz dun allow any explorations + reflections.

Kahlen: Get access to those CC dat got photo clubs. usually, they got darkroom too. with BT, the facilities in da skool become less accesible so bo pian, must b resourceful lor

nah, we shouldn't keep quiet because of the spies. we should let them know what we think!
I have super super little social life now though. quite terrible. I was just coming out of my shell also leh. I haven't had time to spend with my family and friends from other schools. so sad lor!
I mean, what the director is doing has it's good points yar, but it's like cutting off design school from the rest of the world. have our own ccas? but what if we want ccas to socialize with the people from other schools? looking at the same people all the time can be very tiresome, and we lose out on networking.
I hope that he actually sees this forum and does something about it. maybe look at the individual subjects and see what needs a longer time... things like drawing, or require a darkroom, or animating and video...
but I know for sure that block teaching is here to stay. I guess what we could do is to make some noise so that the upper levels know that we are suffering and perhaps change the timetables a bit for us. (NOTE: timetable ONLY, not curriculum, I spoke to a lecturer and (s)he says that (s)he wants to cut down some of the things learnt because there isn't enough time) -
u r rite dat BT will stay in da skool coz i think if it is scrapped, da director will lose his chubby face
i heard he does read this forum and oso students' blogs so hopefully he can understand (which i have very little hope for, actually).

just saw da exhibition by imd n moi students on their 2d & 3d works at da design space yesterday. da works were produced by da 1st run of BT.
actually some works are good idea + rationale but quite obvious dat they lacked craftsmanship lor. i guess BT was not kind in da time for proj execution.

i dun think there's anything wrong with da old system. in fact, after talkin to some grads and lecturers, da older system seems to b more stable & less stressful for students & lecturers.
from what i gathered so far, it seems dat BT was put in place on insistence of da director. Aiyaz, dat fat guy again -

heard last week dat apparently, da design skool director read da students' blogs and forums to find out abt da impact of BT on da skool.
good move but it brought the thinking dat he damn free since he dun do much of other things, like directing da skool properly.
i oso heard dat he called those students with BT on their blogs. he then called any lecturers mentioned in da blogs or forums. he lectured them apparently.
so if u r da director of da skool n u r reading this, scrap BT & do ur job instead. it isn't any students or lecturers' fault but ur stone-headedness -
sianz.. now we are like stucked in the design school like caveman like that.. dun even know what's going on outside.. dun need to even mention abt time for cca. fark it.

i heard there r others too in existence. da director read em religiously.
recently, i heard students who complained abt BT were being called to da director's office, so r da lecturers mentioned in da students' complaints. scary stuff!
staff n students r oso complaining dat they r getting tired frm da system. i think da director is being selfish by sacrificing his staff n students for his own glory n face.
no doubt, da system is gd for certain subj like teaching warez but it's lousy for thinking and creative subj.
aiyaz, i think he reali better off as a lousy biochemist than a lousy director
since he's so notorious, may b i shd start another topic jus on him. -
i dun wanna stuck in sch all the time wif no time for social life.. and oso no time for exercise and end up like his spherical shaped body...
i feel like im a caveman stucked in the design school.. dunno wad the heck is happening outside.. so far ZERO friend made from other school(Engine, Applied Science, IT, Business)... haiz.. but bo bian... sch fee already paid.. not worth leaving. gotta tahan the upcoming 3yrs ahead. -
YES! NO LIFE! Friends are always asking to meet us and we alway give the same bloody reply "cannot la, got submission, stress" and they'll always reply "wa lao, sai la. u and ur stupid sch again"
Its quite impossible to think of new concepts and ideas right after we get our project breif! We're not robots or wateva fk shit. We need time for research not only on net but also outside. By the time we have our research, submission is 2 weeks away. Our standard definitely drop by alot. Other schs are taking over us.
I bet i can do better if i change sch. Own them.
Sad, regret coming here. Sch was once fun...
