Hi all,
Wondering if all pple who chat here ever meet up with internet pple before? What is your experience like? What do you look for when you meet these people? Love??? Friendship? Companionship? People who share the same interest? or just plain sex?
Ever been in love with someone in the internet without seeing him/her before? Just by talking online, sharing each others feelings, chatting over the phone? Did it turn out well? Still together? Is it true love orrrr???
Ever been disapointed that the person doesnt turn out what you expect him/her to be? How do you avoid such embarrsement?
Pls share your real life experiences or any stories that you knew of...kinda of interested! HEHEHEHEH

actually my previous bf was a net fren.. he was v nice in the beginning but in the end he turned out to be a bastard..but i dun blame it on the net..i think there are surely gd ppl on net but maybe perhaps u have to look carefully if these ppl are those who are desperate n wanna find ppl to ease their boredom or they just wanna be plain frens..there is a great difference between the 2!!!

Actually the so called ppl on the net are also ppl in real life mah... can't really categorize them just like tat.
Love before meeting each other? I guess normally its the guys tat get disappointed when they see me.
Anyway like you and me, we all use the internet, and most probably know ppl from there also. So, we are also ppl from the internet.

Internet romance and then True love is possible. you just have to meet the right person at the right time. However, recently internet meeting has being misused as a sex-seeking tools. More and more singaporean esp sex-crazed guy go online just to seek out entertainment, fun and sex. they never think about the future. Maybe this is how the singapore society had shaped them. "Live just for today" Don't be surprised these youngster can be damn young.

True. Men are abusing the Internet as a sex-seeking tool to satisfy their ego and desires. I wonder among us, who is actually out to do such atrocities.

alot of private msg from singaporean guy will ask you out for cybersex, phonesex and sex. And hence you will know who. Don't be surprised that these guy can be only 16 years old or younger.

That is because there exist the greatest number of closet personalities in Singapore.
We have closet gays. Closet lesbians, closet SM specialist.. etc. etc.
There is only this much of conformity the law can achieve. When a channel of freedom comes about, all hell breaks lose. -
haa,i have met ppl fr net b4,some r nice ppl but some r jerks..There is a risk when u meet them cos u will neber wat they will do 2 u..Tats y u must b prepared loh..Well,regarding internet romance..i dun think is advisable lar..i have been hurt b4 n tats when i realised tat i must not b 2 naive...Well,i didnt say a complete nono but jus tat is not advisable loh..Fren fren is fine but other than tis...erm..no comments..Tis is basically my opinion n no hard feelings n no offence

I do agree that pple in the internet are also normal pple like you or me...but some of them may be shy in real life and unable to make friends in real life and when they go into the internet to relieve their boredom, they share their feelings to those whom they feel they can trust.
But sometimes, this trust may be misplaced on the wrong pple who abuse this power...
For myself, I have been online since 1997 and have met up alot of pple from internet since I started... an unbelievable amount of 100+ pple..believe or not but sad to say many of them I known are hi bye friends whom I saw once or twice but cont. on with their offline life after meeting up..
I feel that internet chatters are just normal pple with normal looks. It is only with rare cases that they are ravishing beauty or handsome hunks so when we meet up with "normal" pple like you or me, do not place too high an expectation on them and develop this relationship as time goes by..
who says our friends have to be beautiful or handsome? If you are someone who is like that, who are you to judge a person by their looks......

And I agree that there alot of dangers in the internet. Not a good place really, messy, chaotic... I hate irc... I think icq is better, more personal...
anyway, about my internet experience, most of the pple in my icq list are those that share the same interest with me so we get along pretty well, in fact I made a number of good friends thru the internet. In fact have regular gatherings, maybe becoz of our common interests and hahha maybe we are all guys mah...
anyway, not all internet pple are bad lor, but heee.. most of time, those not bad pple like me, dun go look for pple one lor, normally only look for those that have same interests in profile
and well, i noe my g/f thru the internet too an online art gallery :0) heee...
still, there are more bad pple than good pple, since good pple are rather passive, bad pple are more active.. haa

eremm...in internet we are free to express what we feel(no one really knows who you are, unless of course you reveal yourself)...which we may not dare to say or do in real life(eg: cybersex?)..sometimes we may exhibit a total different personality from what we show others in real life...
eg: in newspaper there are often reports of netmeetings that went haywired. But in the 1st place why do those pple meet up? There must be some level of trust/communication/selection process between the 2 pple when u decided to meet up..unless meeting up for the sake of meeting up coz too bored

I mean to say u must "feel" safe with the person that you are meeting up with..
If not it will be like playing with fire..but of course the other party may abuse the trust you have in them......
Internet romance, heard a few..knew a few of success stories....tried before..but it really depends on what type of person you are, what type of partner you are looking at..as well how deep you are in internet poison(chinese saying- zhong du tai sheng)
For my case, even after I have a partner from the net I hope my partner will not/never go into the net again and be faithful to me..but on the other hand I went into the net chat with some strangers unknown to my partner..I guess that is what I called double standard..hahahaha

Hi All,
I would like to share my story with those of U out there. I have met a couple of creeps from the net before I finally met my current boyfriend. It's kind of fate that we met each other through in IRC. Normally when i logged in to IRC I would use the nick "Bluesky". But on that day when I got to know him through IRC, I changed my nick and logged in as "Greysky" becos I had a bad day. He sent a private message to me. I was kind of surprise becos I have never seen his nick before and later he realised that he had gotten the wrong person. He had a male friend whose nick was also "Greysky" From then on, we started chatting with each other in IRC for over a period of 4 months.
I had never intend to meet him at first because I was sick of meeting those creeps again and I was no longer interested in meeting any guys from the net. However unlike other guys, he did not press me for a date. We can chat about everything under the sky. I was comfortable with the friendship that we had and I did not want to change that.
I was having some problem with my PC and he offered to help me fix it. It also happened that he was just staying a few street away from me. At first I was apprehensive about the whole thing because I couldn't simply bring a guy whom i had never met before to my house. What if he turned out to be a rapist or something?
I finally decided to meet him because I desperately needed to fix my PC.
He knew about my concern and he suggested that we met for dinner first.
That was when i first met him. It was nothing special. No fire sparks but I enjoyed his company and talking to him. One week later, after making sure that my brother was at home that day, I invited him to my house.
We went out very frequently after that. The greatest discovery that I had made was that he was actually one of my best friend's ex-boyfriend. I didn't have the chance to meet him when they were together but my friend had mentioned about him before.
My friends found it quite unbelievable how we met each other. I'm glad to have him and I feel that fate has a hand in pulling us together.

well , internet romance , i had once experienced it.... pple might think that falling in luv over the internet is crazy ,..
however , sometimes the more u dun blieve.... the more u will fall into it....
i met this guy in IRC in 1999 , after settling with my new channel in IRC , i msg pple to ask who are they or maybe who intro them to my channel ,... there he is.. one of my victims,... call him D .
we had chats almost every day n so on.....
one nite he juz told mi that he actually liked me... but i was apprehensive abt that...
after some time... without mi knowing... i actually fallen for him.. the close bond btw mi n him ..... he requested for a meeting.. but i am always bz with sch work or with my work ....
he is very caring.... the feeling was undescrible...
i dun have the courage to meet him... because i am ugly... i told him this fact that i am ugly,.. but many times in fact all the time , he will say " i dun care how u like like... nothing will change.... we willbe together for ever"
i have tried to trust those words.... the whole thing ends after we met in April 2000.
In this whole relationship he promised mi alot of things... alot n alot.... i gave him alot of encourage n help i can . worried over him....
well , the day juz came when we met....
i ponder abt this decision on meeting him ,..
suddenly felt that , if we aren;t goin to meet , we r gonna be like that forever juz on the net... nothing can work... just got my courage n agreed to meet him ,... if he is those who realli mind looks... i might as well stop this relationship , before i got into it deeper....
yeah we met..... the moment i saw him... heart juz shattered into my pieces.... first thing i told my self " He mind my looks " ...
we went for a movie... luckily i was with a friend... during the movie.. i wasn;t concentrating..... my heart was too hurt to think abt anything... felt like crying but i have managed to control it .....
i told myself... this is the first time i will see and it will be the last time...
after the movie when i went home... no more messages or any sort of chat from him .
well.... all these came true... it was what i have expected.... he mind my looks....
from that day we met... his chat with mi is kinda short... short ans ... n u can juz feel it..... he did not clarify anything with me,... or anything..... i am letting everything off.....
really hurt in the heart.... a mth later i met him i was out of town for a mth....
after i came back,.... the channel he reg for both of us is gone....
i expected that he will do the de-reg while i am not in town.... the heart realli sank....i was't not depressed... as i have givn some thoughts while i am not in sg.... that was actually a trip which helps mi to forget this sad thing....
i guess i can forgive him .... i can understand that i am ugly.... he can reject me....
something realli struck me when i saw him againz @ the airport one day after i came back to sg.....
he was walking towards my direction,.... i saw him from far but i wasn;t sure... intended to say a HELLO to him ,.well not a success to be a couple.... frens is still nice...
when he saw mi.... he turned his back n walk back to where he came from.. before i could say a HELLO to him.....
i was wondering... are my eyes playing a trick on me....was must he do that to me?am i so ugly that he has to do that?do i realli scare him off?
what i can say , it is when u give it a try will u noe the outcome , but if u wan to give it a try,.. there r risk, mustn;t be afraid to be hurt....
the hurt is still in me.. though i dun have any feelings towards him anymore...
i have forgave him.... but i can;t forgive him for not even giving a reason for leaving... a silent one is what he did....
he ran away from the reality...
i guess he is having a gd life now... n i also hope he will lead a better life n will find someone he realli treasures n never do what he did to mi to this gal....
to all guys out there.... do looks realli matter to all of you?it is a cruel fact that all guys realli mind looks..... being ugly is not what we want.... pls do think of other ppl;s feelings....

hi all..think love over the net is kinda far-fetched...esp since if the couple hasn't even met yet...have heard sweet stories of couples who met online and are still going strong even after 4 years..and also people who met up and then stopped contact later on.
Let's face it..everyone who goes online wish they are chatting to some chiobu and yandao..and are usually disappointed when the other turns out to be someone else. I am not suprised..I am one of these kind of person. However I don't judge entirely on looks..looks are juz a 10-min impression, but how you carry yourself and the way you behave tells a lot more. I know I won't be able to stand those ego-guys who are hunks yet can't speak/behave properly. I am more impressed by average guys who can actually go the extra mile to make a girl feel special. That is more important...
I met a few net friends..well, some still keep in contact while others have become the hi-bye type. I admit that I am not good-looking, that's y perhaps we are no longer in contact...well...there are many types of people in this world, juz glad that I haven't met any creeps yet...
But for now, I have retired from IRC liaoz, coz of sch work and well, sometimes it's kinda like wasting time to chat too...esp since it's always the same old thing...intro then blah blah...

After after reading what you have posted...I felt sad for what you have encountered but I am glad that you have moved on with your life and did not linger on what has happened
I guess in life, if given a choice..we wld want to be pretty,rich, successful..blah blah~~~ but most of time, this is not the case and it is not your fault that you are ugly... btw, in any event I do not believe that you are ugly.... *hugz*
Like what iLuSioN has said, most of us wish to look for yandao or choibu when we are online (might not be true of course)eventhough we are not pretty or handsome in any case.... I guess it is kinda of excitement and hope when we are online coz we cant see the person face and will not know their facial expressions.....
Sometimes we cant even blame the other party who has rejected us because they do not know that they actually cant face it...they thot they can but when in actual fact they cant...and what you have shared with them in the past is forgetten.... I felt sad for them as well as they cant go past your looks!
Dont worry gal, I am sure in time to come, you will find a guy who will appreciate who you are and do not just judge you by the looks....
I am also ugly & fat but i managed to find a bf...hahahha after so many disappointment... :-) I guess life is fair in some ways.......

while though it is really a sad experience for me ... but i felt that it was a lesson for me too
I met other net frens too.... guys and gals ... some of them ,..hmm we are still in contact , like this guy i met him like a yr ago... now he is out of town.. but when ever he is back here.. we will meet for lunch or somthing like that , i have been consoling myself though... i lost one fren or maybe an almost- lover ,.. but then around me there are still pple who can accept mi for who i am ,.. n how i look ... i guess becoz of all these things these pple had done made mi boast up my confidence....
