oh.. do u have the name of the doctor and may i know where is it? cos if possible i feel like going to see a clinic doctor first before i proceed to the national skin centre but the doctors in my area are not skilled at this.Originally posted by browniebaobao:Is it necessary to go to national skin care centre?
I know the clinic at my area..the doctor is skilled in this..but duno the charges..
What you pay for consultation depends on whether you're a private (GP-referred) or a subsidized (polyclinic-referred) patient.Originally posted by huy:i haven been facing some acne problems during the past few years. feel like going to consult a doctor in national skin centre. but i not sure how much it really cost. has anyone been there to seek consultation before? what is the price like for first consultation? thanks a lot.
Yes definitely, but i notice that many doctors tend to pay more attention to their private (GP-referred) patients. Sometimes the drugs that they prescribe to the private patients may be different also. Cos the docs get paid an additional sum for every private patient that they see whereas they don't for the subsidised (polyclinic-referred) patients.Originally posted by OrneryBoy:...its cheaper to get referral from polyclinic doctor.
It's beside Tan Tock Seng hospital.. alight at novena mrt and walk there.Originally posted by egmardeals:Where's the NSC situated at![]()
From what I understand, the 1st doc you'll be seeing is not a 'trainee doctor' but also a practising one but not someone of senior consultant rank. He / she would try to diagnose for you because referring you to the appropriate doctor. I think the main reason why that's the practice is because they wanna cut down time on handling 1st timer who would usually have more 'history recording' to do... And also to avoid 'no show up' (follow-ups would probably have a higher turn up rate?) for more senior doctors (proper ultilisation of human resource)...Originally posted by Churra:Just a personal experience. It's not about acne. It's abt rashes. I got a referral from the poly clinic to NSC as well.
But i can tell you, the consultation fee may be just abt $20... but watever tests they are going to do for u ain't cheap. Plus, they have a reputation of not curing anything at all.
You see, they are a bunch of trainee doctors. After seeing them, you will get to see the real doctor once and the doctor will access the trainee in front of you. My frens who have been to NSC complains that nothing seems to work as well.
It's better to spend a bit more money on specialist. At least i believe you will more or less see results.
good luck.
Err.. i believe NSC is just like any other hospital, so what you can do is to go to a GP (not polyclinic) and ask him for a referral to see a CONSULTANT/SENIOR CONSULTANT at NSC..Originally posted by Devil1976:From what I understand, the 1st doc you'll be seeing is not a 'trainee doctor' but also a practising one but not someone of senior consultant rank...
That's an implementation for those people who always just don't turn up... When people don't turn up for their appointments, doctor's time would be WASTED... Sitting on the bench WAITING for you... You want them 'jia hong' ar...?Originally posted by kuekj:2 years ago when i went nsc, they wanted a $10 deposit.. they'll return it to u when ur consultation ends all over..
they can confiscate that $10 if u dun turn up for subsequent appts.
No lah... Like I've said, they won't give you a trainee... Not sure about the position liao, but I think it's a standard for the 1st consultation to be with a normal consultant or something...?Originally posted by cornyfish2000:Err.. i believe NSC is just like any other hospital, so what you can do is to go to a GP (not polyclinic) and ask him for a referral to see a CONSULTANT/SENIOR CONSULTANT at NSC..
You CAN specify which doctor you want this way, but be prepared to pay more lor (at least a 100 bucks overall)...
If you got a polyclinic referral, then they'll just assign you to any doc available, may range from a trainee to a SNR Consultant, depending on your luck. You won't be able to choose your doc this way.
Guess its better if you can call up that place to just confirm these procedures to avoid disappointment![]()
oh actually what i meant by trainee was "trainee specialist" rather than "trainee doctor" (which presumably means medical student).Originally posted by Devil1976:No lah... If you go GP, you might wanna try DIRECT WALK IN also...?
YEAH... if you're RICH and WILLING TO SPEND, you'll be SERVED WELL...![]()
That I won't know lah... But basically, when you give them MORE $$$... They'll treat you 'better' one lor...Originally posted by Churra:Devil, thanks for your correction.
But i just felt that for results-wise, private will be a much better choice.
YEAH...Originally posted by cornyfish2000:oh actually what i meant by trainee was "trainee specialist" rather than "trainee doctor" (which presumably means medical student).
These trainee specialists are medical officers or registrars undergoing training to be dermatologists, they're all qualified doctors. No way they'll let medical students play the doctor.![]()
