It was very pressurising..Family tradition you see..Parents, Grandparents and relatives who mostly went through 10 years or more of education in the Methodist schools.

just my 2 cents worth i was reading this college guide book and it sort of woke me up about one thing: that just because you come from a good school dosen't mean you'll be successful. just look at the top 10 richest people in the US,,,none of them came from good schools except bill gates who dropped out of harvard. the rest like warren buffet all came from not so heard of schools like nebraska-lincoln and they still achieved more than any top school graduates could only dream of. just take bush for example, though supposedly has an MBA from harvard he screws up the US economy, from a surplus to a deficit. steven spielberg was rejected by the famous UCLA and USC film schools and went to some no name college yet he's making better and bigger films than graduates from "top" film schools. ok enough bout yanks. you all know sim wong hoo...he didn't really do well i school and went to poly yet he's the richest singapore-born entrepreneur here. i'm not saying that you shouldn't study hard and just anyhow choose a lousy school, what i'm tryin to say is if you work smart and hard and not just hard, you'll get somewhere some day. hope this helps all of those who think that not doing well academically means the end. you may be real good at studies with 10 A1's but you may jolly well end up jobless or with a low paying job cause you don't have the common sense and out-of-the-box thinking to help push yourself up the corporate ladder.

go MI for your first three months, then when your O's are out, go to a JC.
Believe me, many of my friends came by this route, be they from neighbourhood schools or top schools like RI or NYGH.
I just like to say that, even though I came from one of those higher-ranked secondary schools, I thankfully cleared the 'got-standard' prelims.
And btw, for your info, my junior who is in JC1 now and was at MI for 1st 3 months told me, there were a big bunch of the top5 sec school students there,because they have been slaughtered by their prelims. -
