Was Kung Fu Hustle really funny?

Not that i want to be cynical......KF hustle was really average at best.....always felt the essence of Stephen Chow show is in the crappy dialogue....not in the action sequence....to think the papers give it high rating.what a letdown, for all stephen fans out there..

We need the really lame jokes.
I think his climax is the 2 part comedy where he played Monkey God. -

it depends on your sense of humour. somebody can be easily satisfy with simple jokes.

no lah... i think you all see the movies quite late...like just recently?
and cuz people say good...so it raised your expectations toooo high liao lor..so when you see, its like abit of let-down.
For for those who see it when it premiered or so...they will think its good.

The funniest part of the show has got to be the wife using her "shi zhi hou" through the bell & the way she sprint behind Stephen Chow is pure classic

aiyahz...u muz view it in a "mo lei tao" prospective arghz......for me the verbal joke part was ok only......but thereally funny part was the "ACTION" part......juz see how the axe gang dance in the opening sequence......the land lady's "vintage" bra.......and the little little funny details....mauahhahahahaz.....si beh lame arghz....

But the style is simply too much trying to cater to the Hoolywood mkt.
Think.
1) Stranger comes into town to save the oppressed....like some western cowboy type of show
2) Shanghai society with gangsters...Like american 1920s al-capone style gangsterism running society

its not bad lah....laugh thru out the show....like some parts where the peasants can really fight.....the axe gang dances....when sing wanted to throw knife at the landlord....all r typical stephen chow's style

yeah, kinda lame plot but the graphics and effects well done.....and it is pretty entertaining.....

kung fu hustle reminds me of "gangs of new york". both films has people wearing top hats and wielding axes and all that. it's even set in the same era.
