MRT-Jump Off Again Part 2

Tuesday 29.3.2005 , 830pm.
Yio Chu Kang station.
Another man 'jump off' again. He was later help by some staff and fellow passengers who rushed to rescue him.
Don't know how true but my classmate told me the man is a blindman! Wah lao. -

The blind should not use the MRT alone, in my opinion.

Oh, this incident was a hot topic in my night class just now. I was told that they managed to get a train to stop at a safe distance as a kinda protection for the staff to go down the tracks to help the blindman out. I missed out this incident yesterday as I took a bus home instead. I was once kana charge by my MT line WO for being reporting to camp late by almost 30mins. The reason was because I waited for my bus 169 at AMK interchange when this blindman asked me to 'guide him' to MRT which is opposit. So I no choice but to bring him over, walking thru the underpass ( this was way back in 1993 ). When I report to camp I explaint to my WO but he said I late and wanted to charge me AWOL. Lucky one RP knows me and he saw everything and he told that WO the whole incident. But in the end, that WO tried to 'save his own face' and I still got 3 extras. fyi, this blindman still alive today and you can still see him walking around in Bukit Batok bus interchange! Now when I see him there I sure walk away and keep a 'safe distance' away from him. -

Its really bizarre how frequently people are falling onto the tracks, for whatever reason, since 2004. The MRT bigshots must be scratching their heads and wondering the same thing.

I think there is no reason not to help the blind man, but rules are rules.
If you happen to be late for something there is going to charge you, you can either make a phone call to inform them or perhaps get someone else to help the blind man.
Rules can be flexible a bit sometimes if you early inform the authorities
