The annual competition was started in 1997 to recognise MRT stations and staff which have provided quality service to commuters. The assessment criteria include level of customer service, facilities and equipment within the station and the (what doesambience of the station.
In addition to Braddell MRT Station, another 16 stations have received commuters' votes for the following awards:
Gold : Changi Airport
Silver : Dhoby Ghaut, Aljunied, Bedok
Bronze: Orchard, Sembawang, Dover, Novena, Yishun, Yio Chu Kang
Most Improved Station: Kembangan

The winning stations were selected based on the results of a public survey as well as assessments by SMRT officials. In December 2004, students from Nanyang Polytechnic were commissioned to approach some 20,000 commuters for their views on SMRT's network of 51 stations. This public survey constitutes 60% of the competition score, while the remaining 40% is based on customer feedback and internal assessments.
Kang Huey Ling, Deputy Director, Station Operations, SMRT Trains said: "We thank commuters for their participation in the survey and feedback on our service. Their recognition and feedback will certainly encourage all our frontline staff to go the distance to make every contact point within our network a pleasant and interesting experience."
The winning stations received their awards from Ms Saw Phaik Hwa, President and CEO, SMRT Corporation Ltd at a ceremony held at the SMRT Clubhouse today.
