If airfare, you can try eva or china airline. This 2 airfares is cheaper. If you want to save of staying and stuff, try look into buying a package deal in priceline.com. Their package is cheap, or if you just looking for hotel, go to hotwire.com. I cannot speak for San Francisco, but if you are going to L.A. You will need a car too so all this add up very fast. My last vist to L.A with 2 friends for 5 day. we spend around US 400 just on car and hotel.

$700 just for return airfares is tight, very very very tight. So far, even with GV2 pricing is tight. GV4 pricing still quite tight.

i heard some people(backpackers) travels cheap because they have some sort of arrangement with the courier service company to help do some delivery at the same time.
Going to US about 1-2k SGD depending on the locations, stopovers and timing. -

When I flew to queensland, Singapore side taxes were
21 bucks --->airport and security tax, only for departure
6 bucks ---->fever tax, applicable both ways wtf is that?

81 bucks for airport tax alone, thats 162 bucks for return, wtf do they even deserve it?
Total taxes excluding airfare for a return trip cost me 195 bucks. So imagine your basic airfare at 500 bucks, you'll be cashing close to 700 bucks in total.
I dunno about the tax in LA, but the last time I was in vancouver, it was US$15.

Round trip, will cost you an average of $1300 give or take a few bucks. Always ask your travel agent whether the airport taxes and other undisclosed taxes are included. -
