Studying Medicine in Australia

  I am quite interested in studying for a degree in Medicine but i know i cannot make it for the Singapore one coz I only got like ABBB for my As.
  
  So i was thinking about going to either University of Melbourne or Sydney to do a degree that is a also recognised by the Singapore Govt.
  
  I can afford the school fees and I was wondering if anyone could provide me more information like what are my chance of getting a place with my grades and also, I wanna get a place in 2007(doing NS), so should i apply now?

  I think u can try asking your question in Sgforum's SAF forums too, under the 'Questions to Ask an MO' thread, or send a private message to one of the medical doctors there (eg. saabster, react81).. they might be able to help u on that.

  Thanks, but nope i don't wanna be a MO or anything. I juz wanna go there to study after I have completed my NS so i was wondering if anyone could have some advice to give me... Like what i need to get a place there or the easiest way to apply...

  Pay idp australia a visit at orange grove rd at the forgot dunno what name hotel, along stevens rd. They can give you advice on studying in Oz with regards to your queries. They help you file applications too. Its a non profit organisation, so I won't count on them to file a visa.

  ABBB - i doubt will secure you a place @ melbourne,sydney,monash,unsw,anu,uwa <- basically the top schools ..
  
  i mean apply for it anyway .. but don't get your hopes up ..
  
  apply for those "lousier" unis like newcastle, queensland, adelaide, flinders, south australia etc etc. u'll definitely stand higher chance ..
  
  or you can go to bond university which is a new private uni in australia apparently with all the best professors and crap .. new campus facilities everything .. school fees are about 50k though

  SG sees things differently, might not be the best at times.Tell me how does a person get rejected by NUS for Law but get into Oxford?

  and what does NUS produce? they rather take in a total bookworm who needs a textbook for every single thing than a really smart individual who actually uses his brains to think and not as a hard disk.

  Actually NUS Medicine's admissions is quite strange one.. One of my ex-classmates got AAAA for A-levels kenna rejected, yet another of my classmate who got AABB got in.. So i also dunno how they select people.
  
  Anyway, i think NUS is trying to change their admissions system so that people with special talents or interests will be given higher priority as far as admissions is concerned.

  hmmm.. that was the only reason we could think of.. though kinda hard to imagine an eloquent ex-RGS girl with AAAA would flunk the admissions interview.

  an AAAA only means that you can memorise chunks of textbook info... it doesnt mean that you'll make a good doctor.

  i dont think with ur grades u can make it to an aussie ..
  
  my sis who had AAAB didnt make it to oz. but u can try britain. easier to get in but very expensive.

  i dont think with ur grades u can make it to an aussie university to study medicine... i have friends who are currently doing medicine in aussie and they ALL have 4As.
  
  my sis who had AAAB didnt make it to oz. but u can try britain. easier to get in but very expensive.
