  Catholicism IS part of Christianity. All who believe in Jesus are called Christians. Muslims also believe in the authority of religious leaders, to a greater extent than Christians.

  it is generalised as christiendom..but for convenience sake, the roman catholics are referred to as catholics and the protestant denominations are refered to as christians. and for us protestants..all men are equal before God, there is no such thing as a holy man because only God is Holy. even for people like moses or david they're in no way different from the rest of us and they have imperfections as well.

  my comments offensive meh? us protestant christians really don't believe in any religeous leaders' authority what...thats why we dont have cardinals and archbishops and saints...the pastor is merely a senior member who gives advice and shares personal experience, he's no different from us.

  bono also worked tirelessly for peace, should i mourn him when he passes away? no offense but what has JP2 done to actually create more peace? appear on tv and tell people to make peace?
  
  IMO the real people we should respect are the thousands of men and women in uniform out there who actually put their lives on the line to keep the peace, not some guy sitting on a throne in silk robes telling everyone how he wishes the world would be more peaceful.

  speculation only lah. I have read a few other speculations and one news even reported that the Nigerian born cardinal might be the next Pope.
  
  Like what shade343 said, expect the unexpected. A few decades ago, the church didn't expect to have a non-Italian Pope.

  It's time that you read up more text instead of only looking at pictures of the Pope sitting down, dressed in his robe.
  
  If bono has to answer for the few billion population in the world, then by all means mourn for him when he dies.
  
  If there is a uniform man or woman who takes the above responsibilty, plus is able to forgive all his assassinators and personally visit them in prison, then by all means you can go and respect them.
  
  These are just small little info about what the Pope contributed and has done. If I were to type everything, it's going to take me until morning. I still want to get up in time to attend the Sunday Mass at, of course, the Catholic Church.
  
  So, take my advise. Go read up.
