If u ask me, I'd say this is all bull. If the mentality of thinking dat situation is tough carries on, then for sure we're screwed. It's a vicious cycle.. Because we produce less, more FTs are invited to come and take our jobs, our university places, etc.. Seems like we are screwed.. Most FT's will never come here to settle down and assimilate because they also have their own parents to take care back home..
Therefore, the talent pool here will be forever depending on FTs since locals are never given the chance to gain experience with so many jobs going to FTs.. Ultimately, with a greying population, untalented and unexperienced working local citizens, and high dependencies on FTs to run this country cheaply, seriously I can't see how life is going to get better..
Look at the malays in general. No racism but they have a lower income as compared to the other races yet they have the biggest families also. Why? Are our mentalities wrong? Everything is a double-edged sword. Having children can actually be financial wealth. U may start saving n planning for more financial security due to kids instead of spending it unneccesarily like most do.
Why do we have more FTs? Cos we keep having this loser attitude. If we still think like this, wat can the govt do but to keep bringing FTs? We dun take pride in our job n only know how to complain. If u r a boss, who would u hire? A whiner or someone who relishes in his/her job? Irregardless of whether the person is a FT or not, u will nvr be happy with the situation anyway.
I took 8 mths off from work yet I still drove my car n paid my bills all this while. Why? Cos i worked my finances properly. If u want to be extragavant all the time, dun complain about not having enuff. The country is not screwed, the people are. U should start reflecting on urself by looking at someone who agrees on ur way of thought.
There r also jobs which cannot be replaced by FTs, always more than enuff to go ard. It's how we excel n enjoy it. If u do not have the maturity or sense to see it, then look hard ard u n try to find those who genuinely enjoy their job. -

Up to now people have not woke up from reality that singapore is bulit only for the so-called "elites" and "royalites".. Failures and their future generations will be systematically "terminated".. It's a "high-class" communist country with some hilter's influence..
It's not hard to see this point from the many speeches and policy implemented over the years.. singaporeans are systematically put into heavy burdens that build up over the years so that they got no chance to have a say.. It's a vicious cycle..
If one is poor and nobody helps him and does something stupid, it is a social problem and not just his problem.. imagine if the whole Damn country start to have many poor and with minority super "elite" a revolution would take place..
This is a clear signal that we should instead look at how the poor and jobless are coping..
In singapore begging is consider illegal.. try living like him for just a week with no lights, no money but with kids and no job.. then maybe you will get to know his psychological state.. -

but when they reach 40s "some ppl" will blame them for not upgrading, not saving enough when they are young, not as hard working as foreigner, too expensive to hire.. well but is life if we complain about it we are called whiner... and for those that are good enough to mirgrate they are called quiter... foreign talent in others countries are quiter and loser here.. oic... well well....
e.g i know of someone that very work hard everyday and being loyal and easily satisfied with a simple life he work in a company for more than 30 yrs... but that company have to close down their operation in sg due to the rising operation cost...and "some ppl" will blame it on the increase in salary this time.. but... this loyal staff's salary have increase only double or the most triple in 30 yrs!! "some ppl" will say that is alot.. u know 300% increase!!! but just look at how much other things increase over 30yrs too.. then u know 300% is nothing....
so this loyal staff was retrenched but heng this company is a big MNC(of coz not locally owned) give him alot for the retrenchment.. enough for him to enjoy this life for the next 10 yrs at least... but this loyal guy worry about his son and daughter's future decided to save every single cent to pay for future education fees so he started looking for a job again....but 30 yrs of loyalty mean nothing in todays world... so he cant find a job... and cant stay in a job for long after that.. reason being....china man or m'sian are always cheaper and younger than him in which ever company he work in... dun even dare to take sick leave even if he is sick... scared that it will be another good reason for the employer to fired him.....and now he will collect used drink can and newspaper coz those thing can get him a cup of coffee or 2.....and still looking for job.
my point of saying this boring story is that not everyone is lucky... some have choice some do not .....but are we going to just forget them and blame them for this?....is the government doing enough for those ppl help make Singapore what she is today or are they going to reward those ppl that may make Singapore wat she WILL be in future?

End of the day, ask yrself.. Flight or flight.. ?
1) If you are not bullish spore, the lifestyle, the costs, the policies, then you do have a choice.. SELL everything u have and look for alternative life elsewhere. Think the money fetch from selling yr assets could last you a while in some countries..
2) If you do not wish to flight, than fight. Make a difference.. Suggest .. Partcipate... Feedback... Change the system for the better...
Agree not an easy task.. But if every sporean only choose to moan and complaint, then spore is indeed finished lah.. We will becomes 2nd or 3rd class citizens whilst the FT being more positive takes over our places. Before you know it, they will be in our Civil Service, Ministers, PM, etc ... Afterall, we
were a nation of immgrants too..

I think we can't do much for those who is already caught in this current situation.
What I find worrying is that there are a lot of Singaporeans who are headed in that direction. Is there anyway we can prevent this vicious cycle is the question.
I have seen quite a number of people around me who are just making ends meet. No savings, no insurance etc and they are paying for their bills and children. They are still young now but what happens when they are older and fall sick? Where is the money coming from? As well, due to daily necessities alot of items are bought via monthly installments. They won't feel it now, but once they hit their 40s.....we see another group of people affected.
I guess the key now is to stay relevant but it is really a chicken and egg problem - You need money to stay relevant. Another way is to change the mindset that a lot of Singaporeans have - Ask what you can do for the company and not what the company can do for you. If one can do that, the rewards will come naturally.
To me, we are all in our comfort zone and having FT here is taking away that feeling because alot of the FT who come in, come in hungry and will work for a lower pay and pick up more duties. I'm not talking about highly paid caucasians here but skilled professionals from India, China, Malaysia etc. As locals we will have to further prove to our companies that we are worth the higher pay they are paying us for our work, and not paid higher because we are locals. The world is getting smaller and competition fiercier. We really don't have that luxury anymore.
From what I see, things will only get tougher, not easier. Guess we all have to brace up for the rough ride

In some countries adverts like that are actually illegal. The singapore govt takes a different approach. If companies want to screw employees, the govt helps to bend them over and hold them down. There are many many stressed-out singaporeans, burdened by the high costs of living as wages remained stagnant.. private properties are increasingly dropping into negative equity, hdb properties mortaged to banks will be subject to repossess and auction..
According to a friend of mine who knows somebody manning the news hotline, there is an average of one suicide a day by jumping from a high-rise building.. there are no recent government data on suicides.. the latest data is about five year's old.. even using the data, which shows death by jumping at between 1/3 and 1/4 of all suicides and extrapolating, there are at least three suicides a day..
The SOS hotline cannot cope, social services are stretched and the government is doing very little, instead choosing to invest billions of dollars overseas to boost employment elsewhere.. what is the use of having so much reserves while many singaporeans are suffering to the extent of killing themselves, sometimes their loved ones who are innocent..

i guy went for an interview for a post in a logistic company. it took him 30 mins to feel in a 10 page application form and another 30 mins wait. but the interview took less than 5. the interviewer only asked if he has a MBA. No and he's out!! y didnt you state the MBA requirement in the advert? Without getting an answer he was asked to leave.

Instead of giving the man the fish, you teach him how to fish.. But sadly, it's hard for him to even get that fish rod that could eventually help him.. As mentioned in my post, there is really nothing much you can do for people caught in the bind already as it is likely too late. It is for those heading into the trap. As mentioned, it is a chicken and egg problem.
