Web database

  Learning to do a web database now...wonder if anyone in this forum know how to do that....eg: You can log into a website with you own user name and password and then update info and pic of your account...
  
  Quite complex..my head big...Dreamweaver is not that user friendly after all haha

  wat database u using?.....access one?...
  
  dreamweaver user frenly in making sites....its how u like sql coding with normal hypertext that makes them flow together....sql was perversely fun in my opinion
  
  i ended up using notepad to write my coding.....hated the help prompts of some programs....

  yup using access. Doing some website for example friendster. You can log in and change our info and upload photos.
  
  I do not have any SQL knowledge, thats a killer. Just wondering if solely dreamweaver itself can complete the task.

  u must view dreamweaver as a helping 'typing' software(like a automated canvas for u to make ure 'painting')...it makes some jobs easier...
  
  in my opinion....knowledge on sql would make things very easy as it creates a connection from client to server......wat languages are u allowed to use?

  You could try using PHP and mySQL as your database, they are all free and they are pretty gd to use, lots of resources abt them.Go and google for
  PHP Triad, it comes with a built in Apache Server ( You need this to run your PHP and mySQL ) and also the mySQL database itself.
  
  Alternatively you could use MS Visual Studio 2003 Edition and write a .NET application either in VB or C#, C# is better as it has more functionality connecting to web services etc connecting to web based systems.
  
  Alternatively, you could use J2SDK to develop a small CORBA application that is able initiate database calls through the Object Request Broker and use the database. You will need a Apache Server or Tomcat Web Server to set up the HTTP to allow your client to discover the IDL and invoke the methods.
  
  The 1st 2 options are for small and medium. Last one is for enterprise applications. but running a small application for yourself can be a mind rewarding experience learning how to set up the web server and do remote object discovery.
  
  Correct me if i am wrong..but MS Access don't cater for web based database calls right ?

  it caters some basic ones....

  dun install apache if u have a slow computer...
  
  takes dog years to process modifications....
