One day I was doing my self-study session at one of the library, then one guard came and told me that self-study is disallowed at certain times.
What is this, the government discouraging studying!?
Why the rule? I thought only Esplanade implemented this rule... -

anyone visited the new jurong east library? got 4 or 5 stories and is very spacious and comfortable. sometimes can even see people sleeping.

if you live east side, drop by temasek poly's library...great for extensive research and lots of hard to find books...good space for studying and slacking...and just about everyone can go...I see auntie walk in and use the library before...

i certainly hope that the upcoming new national library, with its colossal building will have one or two rooms catered for studying. though by then i wont be a student anymore...i hope there are spaces for ppl to do self studies at the national library.

and they even have radio beside the seat for people...though sometimes those inconsiderate pple on theirs so loudly -
i find that if i study at home, my mind will wander about, always thinking of doing other things. that's why i'll always ends up lying on the bed, reading comic etc etc. so must go out be alone by myself then can fully concentrate.Originally posted by FireIce:go home study loh

you are disrupting their business just like the previous starbucks episode. besides,when the majority whom visit the library see a whole cohort of students studying in there, in order not to disturb them , they might not want to sit among them to read or borrow books. Lookout for any study areas, if not, don't study there.

libraries are good only if u are studying alone. if u are going in groups it's the worst place to study cos must be quiet and cannot do discussions loudly.

Runs against the basic concept of a library as a research and study centre.

got one time my friend and I were chatting loudly and throwing stuff around in Queenstown Library, then got one Bitch complain to manager and the manager scold us and ask us which school we from and primary what. since my school was super small and got split levels into am and pm. I told him we were primary 5, which was pm classes, when we were actually primary 6, which was am classes. so I'm guessing that manager went to school in the afternoon to complain to my principal, who couldnt speak English, lol.

imagine you want to do research which is the primary function of the Reference Section, you go there and find students occupying the seats, leaving you nowhere to sit to do research, damn pekchek...
If you got money, you can spend 6 bucks per hour in the discussion room. No librarian will come in to ask wtf you doing inside.... -
again like in most cases there are black sheeps. it is not easy to find a seat in the library. there are people sleeping, though only a handful. it is fair that studying and chit chatting in groups is disallowed. they are too rowdy .
