Can i use my current M1 no. when i changed to Starhub?

What I did was to go to Singtel and tell them I wanted to keep my M1 number..so they give you a Singtel numbered sim card and tell you to start using it when your M1 card stops getting signals.
But there's this problem.
Let's say your current M1 number is XXX
And they give you a Starhub number OOO
You insert the Starhub sim into your phone, whether someone calls or sms XXX or OOO, you will still get the communications coming in, except when someone calls XXX, you will see a sign saying it's a diverted call, as Starhub has bought over the number from M1. Don't worry, you won't get extra charges from the supposed divert.
One thing to remember is that when your as yet un-updated friends SMS to XXX and you reply, OOO will show up on their caller ID. Thus XXX still is contactable, but it will never show up on any phone's caller ID once the service is active. Another thing you will see, everytime you make an outgoing call you will get this sign flashing "Active Diverts In Place". but maybe that's just my phone model doing it.
As for billing, you will only get Starhub billing. You won't incur any extra charges but make sure first. I got my check from M1 returning my overpayment of the last bill due to me switching to Singtel right after my billing cycle.
Oh ya your M1 number must also not be under any contract term when you are doing this service.

Nope. I tried asking too..they said not available. I'm pretty sure it is technically possible la..just that it's too much of a hassle. If they can buy over the number from M1, why can't they bill it to that number since it belongs to them right? I understand what you're saying, but I have no answer to that.
