"A retired contractor who wants to be known only as Mr Tan used to be a National Kidney Foundation (NKF) donor until he was hired to install some bathroom fittings for its new headquarters at Kim Keat Road in 1995.
Inside chief executive's T.T.Durai's office suite on the 12th floor of the $21million building, he says he "lost it" when he had to install, among other things, a glass-panelled shower, a pricey German toilet bowl and gold-plated tap."

i dunno how true is this but i already made up my mind long ago i won't donate a single cent to NKF again .. i rather put on my money into the tins of those sch children who sacrifise their weekend !

I think I know the friend of that particular contractor.
That aside, let me tell you guys a story.
Long ago, there was town with very little water. The provincial government made a plea with the central government, to provide them funding to sustain a project to deliver water by wooden bullock carts daily. The central government obliged.
And there was water. As the water flowed, the town still remained poor, but had a lifeline now. As the years went by, the population grew, all thanks to the water project. The project has since changed hands several times.
The new management decided to improve on the quality of the whole delivery system above and beyond sustinence to that of abundance. They used stainless steel carts that were sturdier but heavier, and needed more buffalos per cart, but all in the name of quality.
The increase was meagre, but it now costs more. The townsfolk will need to pay more for the water, but they had no extra to spare. The provincial gov once again turned to the central government. but they could only do so much.
The water project management decided to ask the whole nation to donate to that poor town. Using the funds generated over the years, they widely publicised the donation drive, got help from the central gov to help along with the publicity, ran the donation drive throughout the country for a whole month and generated enough funds to last them for another 10 years.
The management decided that since the funds generated was enough for this year, the remaining was annexed to further improve the water project. The management decided that their office was too shabby, and decided to tear it down and rebuild a grand complex befitting of their currently well inflated coffers. To ensure that the project went well and to ensure that it will be around for generations to come, they decided to increase their paychecks and attract talents from the richer cities to provide them with new ideas to folllow up with the times.
All these, while in a nearby village with the same problems, another self sustained town was still using the wooden bullock carts.
The water management team now travels by chauffer driven limousine wherever they went and flew first class.

does NKF need more money?
if not, why do they take away a saturday from more needy causes?
you may have to ask yourself that, before asking people to keep donating to NKF

well CEO cant possibly use toilet bowl from Kimberly Clark right? and gold-plated tap is just the plating; that tap aint made from gold but mild steel or stinless steel.
but then, let's not forget the nkf operates like a corporation and i wouldnt want to donate to 'em also. kdf is a better alternative.
