  read the news today? another similar incident happened at the zoo today. a wild cat (not sure about it's real name, bit definately a wild animal) attacked a female tourist from china during a stage show.

  Yes, that's very true. It's a Civet cat. Heard that it bit the tourist at the night safari show. Now the poor tourist is warded in Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
  
  Also heard that just before the Jaguar escaped, a crocodile bit the keeper. Luckily the crocodile let go in a second.
  
  So many things happening. When is the 50 year old lady going to explain this to the media ??? Or will she get her representative to talk, as usual?

  SINGAPORE: It has been a busy three days at the zoo and Night Safari.
  
  First, a jaguar escaped from its cage last Sunday through a hole meant for feeding purposes, leading to half an hour of frantic searching before it was found.
  
  Just as staff breathed a sigh of relief at its recapture, trouble struck again.
  
  During a show at the Night Safari on Monday night, a predatory cat jumped at a Chinese tourist and sunk its teeth into her leg.
  
  It held on for almost two minutes before it could be pried away by shocked staff.
  
  The woman was recovering at Tan Tock Seng hospital, and the Night Safari was investigating the incident.
  
  Fortunately, bad luck did not come in threes.
  
  On Wednesday afternoon, a young giraffe from Holland arrived after a 40-hour plane journey.
  
  Standing at a relatively small three metres, the 10-month-old male giraffe joins two females from Israel.
  
  They will be the first giraffes at the zoo since 1994.
  
  The three will be quarantined for three months to make sure they adjust properly, after which they will go on display. - CNA/ir

  SINGAPORE : The Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari will be introducing new safety measures following two recent incidents involving members of the cat family.
  
  On Sunday, a seven and a half year old female spotted jaguar escaped from its enclosure.
  
  For less than half an hour, it roamed the Zoo until staff caught up with it, sedated it and sent it back behind bars.
  
  Investigations showed the cat made its escape through a hole meant for throwing food down into the cage.
  
  So from now on, the hole will be kept locked at all times.
  
  Furthermore, the meat will be cut up into smaller pieces and pushed through the mesh fence of the jaguar enclosure.
  
  While Zoo staff were quick to stress that the public was in no danger as they were quickly evacuated, this is the first Big Cat escape at the Zoo in over 10 years.
  
  Dr Chris Furley, Director of Zoology and Veterinary Services, Singapore Zoological Gardens, said, "The best thing to do is give the animal some space, to calm (the animal) down and keep it under observation, which is exactly what our staff did. I have to say I think that the staff have acted very commendably and very quickly."
  
  Zoo staff are trained on what to do in such situations during six-monthly emergency drills.
  
  In the other incident, on Monday night, a serval cat jumped off the stage during a night show at the Night Safari.
  
  It attacked a Chinese tourist by biting her leg and holding on for two minutes before Zoo staff managed to pry it off.
  
  The tourist apparently suffered superficial scratches.
  
  The serval cat, which is about the size of a large dog, has been taken off the show.
  
  The Night Safari is conducting evaluations to see if the cat, which has been performing every night for two years, can eventually return to the show.
