Seeking travel tips to Mt Ophir

Hi, I am planning to go to Mt Ophir with a group of friends (10) and intend to charter a bus from Singapore to there and back. Any contacts?
Is it cheaper to take taxis?
Any tips for those that went up? -

too many people can also mean more problems and whims n fancies...
lesser selected people means a good boat of rowers than rowing all over the shop...

Can't help u on the transport as I went with my company club. But do expect the climb to be rather humid. And beware of leeches dropping from the trees. A ligher is sufficient to get them off.
Yes. 8 checkpoints with the 4th checkpoint still able to U-turn back as vehicles can still reach there (At least its true for the path I took). Hands-on experience like pulling urself up on a 45-60 degrees slope with a rope starts after the 5th checkpoint.

ophir considered average lah.no steps cut in.Just becareful of the slippery tree trunks

Not too sure if he's talking about the same route as I am, cos there's this log which is almost vertical with steps "cutted in". On top there are 2 big rocks of which u need to climb through like a cave to reach the upper part. If the journey's wet, then its rather slippery to use the log with cuts to climb up through the "cave".

Anybody ever stayed at the gunung ledang resort? is it value for $?
they quoted S$158 pax for
-1 N stay at resort
- 3 meals
- transport from SIN-resort-SIN
- 4x4 from summit to resort
- ranger and registration
- insurance
any comments? -
Err I am not sure if you know,
but now Mount Ophir you need to pay for a ranger.
Every 10 pax = 1 Ranger. Who will accompany your whole trip.
I can't remember the cost, but you can find out by calling their office.

They also charge overnite camping charge, PLUS rubbish charge.
Now you can only camp at one place IF you are going up from Sagil side (not asahan side) and that's the elephant pool... so .. well may be kind of crowded if you are going on a weekend.
Sigh that's why a bit sian sian about going Mt Ophir liao..
By the way, sell a bit of KOYOK, if you are interested in Adventure
at the Toa Payoh Central CC, there is an Adventure Resource Centre
if you are a passion card holder, you can borrow books from there
if you are not, you can enter to browse.. its open till about.. 8.30 pm on weekdays -
donkey yrs ago, i went with a group of friends...
if you want to go on a relax trip, howabout by train then by van. (but i don't know if they had booked the van earlier or was it arranged when we reach there)
its was a very relaxed trip. We rest a nite at the railway station there (don't ask me the name, i forgot liao)
We stayed two nites, one midway and one at the peak. I think one of the place we stayed overnite is called botak hill??
its really very enjoyable......

I heard the route by the pine tree has better view....we went by the waterfall path...
if you have ppl who are not too fit, just like me, remember to bring some muscle pain relieve cream, it will be useful..... -

Only can camp at Elephant Pool.. that's at Checkpoint 4.
But its nice ba. next to waterfall so you got easy water source. Can play water too. -

the elephant pool, is lower than botak hill rite??
i recalled, when we came down mt ophir, a tree trunk fell rite at the place at botak hill, where we camped the nite before....

Rangers happened.
Well basically now Ophir is like a PROPER national park. You can't just tent up wherever you like and there's only designated camping spots. I am not sure where the camp spot from asahan trail is, only know from the Sagil side is Elephant Pool.
Yeah its much lower than Botak Hill, which is i think chkpt 7??? Elephant pool is only Chkpt 4.
Think its the amount of rubbish people leave behind ba.
