disintegrating black spots on clothes

  anyone realised that some clothes, after some time, they develope these small black spots which eventually start eating away at the cotton until it becomes a hole?
  
  i don't know what causes these spots. some of my clothes develope them quite fast, like say after 2 months. some only after 3 years.

  i met this prob too, my mum was saying it's because either u sweat then ur shirt wet and u put it in a damp place for a few days, the black spots will show. So wash ur clothes immed to prevent the spots

  i put them in bucket of water, consider damp or not?

  hehee, water with detergent should be okie bah, i not sure too
