Taxi drivers are not employee of the cab co...
They only rent the cab from the co, so the cab co only earn the taxi rental and disel -
The cab companies can use the increase in taxi fare as an excuse to increase the daily cab rental.
Either that or the fare increase will encourage more people to drive cab and thus more cabs being rented a day - still a boom for the cab companies. -

For every call the driver takes, it costs don't know how much and part of the cost for the installation of CabLink in taxis is covered in the rental which is $92 per day. $92 * 30 = $ 2760... if this amount could be taken home by taxi drivers, it would do them so much good. And... the CabLink has been installed in taxis for so many years liao and Comfort is still earning profits from their installation. The cost for their installation has already been covered long long time ago liao. -

i'm gettin' a car... and cabs will be used only when i imbibe...
but the forecasts are saying that the rent increases when the fares increase...
since people DL, don't want to take cabs, the number of fares the cabbies pick up drop..
and so the cabbie's disposable income drops...
it's a fricken tragedy if they increase fares... -
$92/day... I got that figure from my father. Maybe that's because his hirer had recently changd the cab to the newer type which may cost much more...
