my comp hang frequently .. onli used bout 13 gb space .. check for spyware 4 times a week ... avg anti virus ... and i did nt use too much program at once ... bout 2 .. winamp and game or internet explorer !!
using 512mb P4 2GHz

try get a better grapic card, add many ram(which i did512 ddr + 256ddr)
if lik tat dun solve, then i also dunno liao. -
How about making a screenshot of your processes tab from task manager then host it here for us, erm I mean me to see. So I can ahem, assess what the problem could be?

I really can't tell what's wrong with your comp from my current position.

use other anti-virus software to scan for viruses.
Other brand of anti-virus software like F-PROT, E-TRUST. -
u may be infected by some sort of adware/spyware.
Go n download HijackThis software to run N scan then after finish scanning, open the log file, copy evrything n then paste it at here.

1) Most common problem is Kanna virus which choke up yr resources and hence HANG.
2) As ask by many here, the RAM might be loose , over-heated or yr application for example GAME is using too much memory liao hence other application could trigger over-usage example programs running in background like norton anti-virus,msnmessenger, office application etc. Try closing down unnecessary programs & try using. So question is if u don't open more than two program does it hang?
3) System over-heating , meaning CPU, harddisk or GPU etc. Check Bios or sys temp if possible.
4) IDE or SATA cable loose
4) PSU insufficent power, try minimise to bare requirement for and try example
1x HDD
1x Optic Drive
1x Graphic Card
1x RAM module
Thats currently all tat i can think of now.. hope it helps..

Try Not to Use Norton Anti-Virus software cos it taken up too many resources n causes slowdown

assuming that the machine was working okay until recently this hanging occurs
try
1) restalling OS
2) if still hang, swap RAM with someone else that you know has no problem with his/her pc.
3) if problem still exist, most probably mainboard or power supply problem
the mainboard should be quite cheap. juz got one for $100 brand new. -
GO n download Spybot search & Destory to remove adware/spyware.
