I was wondering why some people can sell laptop and mp3 players below retail price. So I decided to investigate a little further...and this is what I found out.
1) The seller needs money urgently
2) The seller buys the laptop from Courts/Harvey Norman/Best Denki at the retail price.
3) The seller chooses to pay under a Hire Purchase Agreement
4) The seller sells the laptop below retail price
5) Buyer happy. Seller gets fast money. Both parties happy.
So....my question is, is such an action illegal?
Since the computer was bought under HP agreement, this means that Courts or the retailers still own the laptop right? SO how can the seller just sell it when he/she has not fully commit the payment of the laptop?
BTW, Im really tempted to buy the Ferrari 3400 at $2400

This is not new, some so called money lenders in the classifieds who claim to be able to provede loans up to 5k for low income ppl, actually ask the client to buy high end goods from the above mention retail outlets and re-sell to them at low prices.
Personally I feel it's stupid, if I'm not wrong, these outlets charge up to 10 to 15% interest.. -

I don't know if it's illegal, but come to think of it, if the poor farker can't keep up with installments, courts cannot repossess the item cos sold, won't the guy get his pants sued off him? -

Becos, the law still recognises Courts as the rightful owner of the laptop. And the name printed on the reciept bears the seller's name...which I believe also serves as a HP contract??? -

Hmm, good point. No need to show proof of purchase, as long the machine is still under warranty, they'll gladly fix it. Only know if you register your warranty online, they give you an extra month or two free. But they take ages to send you the warranty card after that, so be sure to drop them a reminder. -
