My temp holiday job.
I can be considered as working as a quality controller. Basically, the more senior people among us will do the checking of 300 screws randomly from each lot using the microscope or pin gauge. If there is any problem, like out of the 300, got one screw has defect(s), the whole lot is then given to us to do 100% sorting, meaning we have to check every of the screw using the equipment (microscope, pin gauge or magnifying glass) as required.
This job is extremely harmful to your eyes. Because we may be using the scope from starting work to going back, the eyes are often subjected to strong light, causing us to be unable to see things clearly by the time we went home, especially if the lighting outside is dim. Even now, 2 weeks since I quitted the job, I still cannot see clearly when the surrounding is dark. -

I was doing a holiday job about 7-8 years back in an MNC electronics company where they produce chip boards. I'm one of those guys who have to sit by the production line inspecting for chip defaults (like soldering fault) with an electronic microscope.
Its really straining for the eyes as your eyes have to be really sharp. If there is a soldering fault which we can't pick up, then we have to do the whole lot again and this is really a big headache for one's colleagues. Moreover its a 12 hours shift and normally after work, I would just go to a local garden to relax my eyes.
Good for you you quitted it. Of the many jobs I have had, thats really one of the toughest job in my life. -
Actually I quitted it because I have to go poly soon, cannot commit my time to the job anymore.

And your companies customers will be those who manufacture plastic products like Tuperware, baskets, bottles etc etc?
With the oil prices going up, I'm sure your industry (well in fact most industry) is affected. Do you guys pass the cost to your customers then?
as for all those costing, im not involved so i cant say much cos im on the production side

For the students out there, if you'd like to travel, go to unique places and see a bit of F**kall, then perhaps you should consider working in the Oil & Gas sector. Oil prices have been on its way up and looked set to stay for quite some time. So this sector is hiring, both experienced and new guys.
In the offshore construction sector I am currently in, we construct stuffs that will be transported offshore for installation. In my career, I have been to some places with names I could not pronunce and also places where one does not want to leave. Had worked in West Africa, North Africa, Middle East, Far East, North, Central & South Americas, Central Asia, Subcontinent, Pacific ream etc. The benifits are reasonable and the thrill are always there. The down side of things are you could not pay income tax, have to go on R&R every four to eight weeks, lived in a reasonable hotel most of the time and most of your expenses paid for you.
But seriously, if you don't like to travel and could not lived without your mum's cooking, then this is certainly not good. I spend at least eight to nine months living away from home, spend more time talking to hookers than my own GF. Mixed up languages when I come home, e.g., trying to speak spanish with my Malay friends. Have less friends because you ceased to be part of their daily lives.
As for openings, the sector needs lots of engineers, logistics and IT personnel. The last going rate I heard for enginners willing to travel to a certain Middle Eastern country is approximately USD 1.5K/day, but insurance not covered!
If anyone's interested, I will elabrate more on the job scope. let me know.

b) engineer ...sit there wait for problem ppl push around i got chance can raise my voice and opinion and be heard they notice me can go lunch together then can gossip and tot bad about others.
c) everyday tok over the phone ask wife can divorce or not, ask children go to school oredi or not, ask ah bend whether he got buy toto or strike 4-d or not.
d) pros...got salary to sarpot my family, cons...waste time.
e) dun come here and snatch my rice bowl okay, and dun lik dat okay...i got old mother, family and car to feed and pay money for okay...tanjiat u know, veri bad if i loose my job.
