Two Jags vs 10 chavs in café confrontation

John Prescott today told of his latest confrontation - with a gang of hooded yobs.
The Deputy Prime Minister admitted he felt "intimidated" by their threatening behaviour in a motorway café.
Mr Prescott spoke out after the Bluewater retail complex in Kent became the first to ban young people who adopt the craze for hoods and baseball caps.
He told the Today programme: "I got into a motorway café about a year ago and some kids said something to me and I said: 'What did you say, lad?' He went off and he came back with about 10 people wearing hoods - you know, these covers with hoods on."
Asked if any of the youths threw a punch at him, Mr Prescott said: "He just came at me in a very intimidating manner. But, of course, I have security control who arrived and they all vanished.
"But what struck me about it, not only did they come with these kind of uniforms, but they had a kind of movie camera to take a film of any such incident. I found that very alarming."
The gang may have been part of a new bullying fad in which yobs use their mobile phones to film each other hitting children and then swap the movies.
Mr Prescott, who famously hit a pro-hunting protester during an election campaign clash in Wales in 2001, said the Government would take action against rowdy behaviour to restore "respect to communities" and he praised the Bluewater decision.
"I think the fact that they go around with these hoods, it is a uniform and it's intimidating and I rather welcome what they have done in Bluewater."
Other shopping centres are expected to follow the lead of the Dartford complex. Helen Smith, property manager at Bluewater, said the ban was brought in because customers felt frightened and were put off shopping.
"They said they felt intimidated by groups of youths, particularly those who have their heads and faces obscured with baseball caps and hooded tops," she said.
Swearing will also be outlawed at the giant retail and leisure complex. -
