how to make a screen cap on windows media player?

  i hit print screen and all it captures is a blank black screen. can someone tell me how to do it correctly?

  Windows media player classic has the function built in. It has something to do with YV12 and YUY2 formats not being compaitable.

  to those facing the same problem, here's the solution:
  
  

  "You are probably using a video card (ATI) that does not allow screen capture of the video image, I think because of the overlay. I have found that if you play a "dummy" video first you can trick the video card into allowing the screen capture. Just open Media Player and play any video, then open a different video player (other than media player), play your video then execute your screen capture. This should work... "

  for some files, u can use + simultaneously in media player.
  
  Alternatively, go to the options in media player & disable ur hardware acceleration (set it to zero). However, doing this will likely to cause u to lose some resolution.
  Then u can use the key to capture the screen shot. Btw, remember to set the hardware acceleration back after that.

  the solution is something simple, without lost of resolution...
  
  I too had this prob, but I figured the solution myself.

  1. Open Windows Media Player
  2. Tools > Options > Performance
  3. Click "Advanced..." under Video Acceleration
  4. Uncheck "Use Overlays"
  5. Click OK
  6. Use your favourite [Print Screen] button
  
  It worked for me. Hope it works for you, too.
