All the samsui women and amahs who came to singapore to make a living, and to a larger extent, did so without indulging in gambling, whoring and opium vices that their male counterparts did.. They sent a greater percentage of their income back to their families overseas and got nowhere near the appreciation the males did..
Everytime I saw on TV about those samsui women and amahs who toiled all their life away just for their families back home makes me real sad.. they forgo everything in life, including marriage.. Never once did they bow down to fate.. Their strong characters and perseverance in life is something modern singaporean women should feel ashamed..

bro caramon, what u say is very true.. our parents and grandparents time, those women very hard life, but they still never bow down to their fate. haiz, but nowsaday gals little bit tough only and they want to sell their body. is life very hard for them meh? i really don't know lor.
