Anyone used this program before? Is it able to reformat one drive safely??
Friend recommended me to use it... But not sure that it will be safe... So hope to get some advise here... Thanks

I wanna use it for reformatting one of my drives... Its one of the function... Right?

If your purpose is to just format a disk drive, then using Window to do it will be good enough. No need to use other software. But if you want to resize your disk drive, then Norton partition Magic is a very good tool.

Are you trying to reformat all the drive including your c:\ drive or what? If you are, then you may need to be familiar with DOS and such. And in that case, I don't think partition magic will help you at all. Would advise you to find someone else who knows computer better to do this kind of thing for you.Originally posted by technoboy:Did you try that before? Why do you want to reformat your drive anyway?
Cos there are too many things in my C and its slowing my comp down... And deleting stuffs doesn't seem to clear up my space... And since I have a lot of things in my D drive like songs which I don't wanna lose.. I don't want to reformat my whole comp which will be much easier...

In formating your C drive, do note this means losing all essential installed programs including drivers, windows, office, etc... So, you better make sure that you have all these software available before doing anything. In fact, as mention earlier, it is best you get someone who knows this better to help you along even if you want to do it yourself. There is a good chance you may lose some software permanently in the whole process due to forgetting you have this software only in the HDD. Personally, I have a checklist of software I need to install after formatting. I use to do it about every year just to clean things up when the earlier versions of windows always reduces it's performance after a while. -
If you have a system restore or a ghosting program, then use it.
Partition magic can't help you in this case. You'll have to back up your D drive contents and also your drivers etc. I usually have a system restore disk to help me there.
Shut down you windows and from the DOS prompt, type format C:
You'll be asked if you really want to format, then type y. Walla!
Anyway, if you're not proficient in computers and there is no one to help you, then try deleting some files that you're sure you dun want from your C drive.
read from a website that some ppl delete all their readme files. Uninstall applications that you won't use, or vaguely intend to use in the remote future. Clear all your internet history, cookies and tmp files. There are applications to do all that. You should be able to free up some space esp if you've never cleared your internet history before.
