Is that true that in some countries , working hours are like 8- 3 , 8-4 compared to here 8-5?

Why so early? Because the sun rises early also, 0500hrs++. Why so early knock off? Coz the sun sets early also, 1700hrs and its sunset. -

I work 8am to 4pm with half an hour of lunch. My working area so ulu, no where to go also, so half an hour of lunch is sufficient. Anyways, it's usually spent on sgforums if not more (hee hee)

Rubbish, 6pm all close shop, socialise ki lan lah. Popular clubbing spots, open only on fridays thru sundays. Working hours are not only shorter in some countries,even pay is higher compared to SG.
SG sucks,nuff said -
In UK/Canada, people are generally family oriented.
In UK, the working hours is normally from 9am till 5pm with lunch break from 1pm to 2pm.
In Canada, the day starts from 830am till 430pm. Lunch break is from 12pm to 130pm.
Note that this is NOT the official office timing across ALL offices. Timing varies....I just give a general guide as to how the office hours differs from SG.

I guess even though the office hours in SG is generally from 9am till 6pm (+/- 1hour), people in general still works approximately 10 hours per day and some even have to bring work back home during the weekends.

haha.. ditzy.. i think for places like aust and my place is diff lah.. their way of socialising is not going outside to socialise.. more of.. go to each other's house.. parties all that kinda thing.. at least that's how the pple in my place socialise.. i know the shops in aust close kinda early.. but the shops here dont close that early till about 10.

Not sure if you guys would agree with me.. Do you guys think that it has something to do with the difference in work mentality of people of different countries, or rather the culture..
For the bosses of westerners, as long as the work is done, you can leave.. That's what I have heard.. But for asians, Chinese bosses for example, they often think that working harder and longer will produce more results.. So usually when the staff have finished their work and nothing to do, they would allocate other work to the staff.. They would also allocate more work to the staff for them to work harder and longer, thinking that it would increase the productivity.. Mentality difference? -
