Report from the front:
Elements of the Space Hamster Expeditionary Force have taken control of the Epsilon 9 System. Despite being outnumbered by units from the 9th Wombat Rangers and the 4th Armored Rat Division, our valiant troops took few losses. The Expeditionary Forces are using the facilities abandoned by the 9th Wombat Rangers on the third planet in the Epsilon system (referred to by the UFR as Epsilon 3), to coordinate tracking down the remaining squadrons of enemy troops in the surrounding area. When their mission is complete the base on Epsilon 3 will be used to launch troops into the Gamma Draconis System.
On a related note, Admiral Reginald Smidgins is expected to arrive in the Epsilon 9 system in ten days for a tour of the third planet as well as the other eight planets to determine if any resources are available for the war effort. The distinguished military commander will also be inspecting the Epsilon 3 Command Center and will accompany the survey team being sent from Barthwell's Moon to map the surface of the newest planet to be added to the United Federation of Rodents.
Mission Summary:
* 550 enemy soldiers from the 9th Wombat Ranger and 4th Armored Rat Divisions were captured during yesterday's battle. Their weapons have been confiscated and will be sent on transports with the PoW convoy to the transfer station on Barthwell's Moon.
* Estimated enemy casualties from both divisions are now at 1200 dead, there has been no word from the Coalition Rodentia Universalis to confirm or deny that estimate.
* The latest report indicates that the Space Hamster Expeditionary Force lost only 98 brave hamsters in the battle. Commander Squigles DeNather's Blue Squadron has been awarded a Unit Commendation Award for their efforts in holding off the Water Rat Heavy Assault Vehicles long enough for the Space Hamster Commando Squad to reactivate the captured base's defense platforms. There will be a ceremony for Blue Squadron as well as those killed during the battle at 0900 tomorrow.
News from Home:
At the 28th Universal Réunion des Rongeurs, the High Council for the Affairs of Mice, who governs over all mice, pledged their support to the UFR and have sent the entire 2nd and 3rd Elite Field Mouse Commando and the 101st and 102nd Light Attack Divisions to aid the Federation. A CRU spokesperson was quoted as saying, "By pledging their support to the United Federation of Rodents, the High Council for the Affairs of Mice has made a grave mistake. They shall find the justice for this error will be swift and powerful." The HC-AM chose not to reply to that statement but Federation Supreme Admiral Yozashima Hidarida did deliver a short speech to thank them during the ceremony when the pledge of support was announced. In order to protect the Federation's new allies from invasion across the Coalition/High Council border, the UFR sent troops from a wide range of divisions and sectors to reinforce the current HC-AM border patrol. -
