  I was there quite recently,stayed at the Berjaya Times Square.Rooms were good(spacious).However,if you value service,stay clear of it.For prices they charge,you'd get better service at the more establieshed 5-star hotels there.
  Plus,it depends what you're in KL for.If you're there with the boys to party-hearty,Berjaya will suffice because of its excellent location.
  If you're headed ONLY to Zouk(it sucks btw),there's one right across the road.Advantages include not having to use Zouk toilets esp if you wana take a crap.

  swiss garden hotel is cosy 4 star rated, near the times square,
  or royal bintan hotel, near to all major shopping centres,
  both rates around $70-80 plus. include breakfast, worth it

  I like Royal Bintang as well.
  
  Corus Hotel is ok, but I think that it is more of a business hotel and I do think their service standards dropped

  No budget... I have a few choices, JW Marriott, Westin, Ritz Carlton... Actually have made a tentative booking with Ritz Carlton & Westin. But wish to have more choices.

  Grand Plaza Park Royal hotel
  
  good value good location.. exterior is apalling but once in the lobby, its quite chic! room 1001 will be of higher value cuz i stayed there before. ha..
  
  beside lot 10, at e junction of sungei wang street and the times square street. within 5 min walk fr jalan alor (glutton street) and 10 min walk fr naug kee beef noodles. 3 min walk fr kai tak sek desert. near monorail.

  ritz...the location not so centralised.....abit far from sungei wong... supposed to be 5*? but the lobby so small & if dun rem wrongly only 2 or 3 lifts nia....but the rooms are spacious & comfy lah....
  
  i prefer berjaya times sq. regent & park royal (can't rem exactly if it's this name) not bad too

  As for why the lobby is so small, from what I know, guests do not check-in/check-out or even enquire at the lobby. The hotel have a service known as Bulter Service, should be stationed at each level of the guest rooms. That is why lobby so small. Like that more personalise, etc.
