Got a call - that I won a ticket for 1-nite stay at Sentosa.

I got a call the other day that I have won a ticket for 1-nite stay at Sentosa or Thailand or M'sia (up to me to choose).
I have to go down to their office at Al-Dephi (near Hard Rock Cafe) at an appointed time. The caller assure me that no money need to be paid but I have to give some personal particulars over the phone. Then they will reveal the address of their office to collect the prize.
The caller said it was from some entry I had given at some supermarkets but it was too long ago, so can't say which supermarket it was.
I did not go down anyway and I did not give my personal particulars. -
I've had many of these calls too. I just politely pushed them off.
Its all a scam. Its been known that when you appear at their office, they will ask you to attend some long talk and in the end, tell you that you can only get your prize if you sign up for some membership or something first (and of course you have to pay lah).
Always remember the two golden rules.....

Think about it logically...no one and no company can afford to give you free holidays without getting something back from you. Companies are commercial entities, not charitable organisations. Even the staff who called you needs to be paid.....and guess where they're getting the money from?
Anyway, you made the right choice by not going. -
i got the same call..
i just said i am too busy for that.
anyway.. they oso told me that i entered into some lucky draw or something .. which i dun recall.. coz i dun really fill up those lucky draw coupon at supermarket or departmental stores.. -
i got many of such calls too n sometimes the caller is kind of rude, insisting that you have to be there at certain times, etc ..
Agreed tat there is no free lunch so i can't be bother to go. -
it's usually a scam.. and when you go there, they'll try to hardsell you a time-share thing..

Also, they should know which supermarket or mall it was from.
There was a newspaper article few weeks ago only, which a company uses LKY pictures for some holiday thing and was sued! hahahah serve them right -
you pay a sum to "buy" a time block in a resort.. which you can go at a certain time in the year....
and you can "trade" with other people who buy blocks in other resorts...

Also when go down sure must sit and listen to some presentation for 1 to 2 hours one...they will claim no oblication etc but at the end, sure ask if you are willing to sign for this and that -

not really scam but i dammm hate those surveyers at causeway, a whole army of them lurks there and pull all sorta tricks to get ppl to do their survey. damm irritating, den if they cannot get ppl, all of them LL stand there and stare at ppl.

last year, walked along orchard road... and was asked to go to this time-sharing scheme... as my gf and i have nothing to do, we went.
After 2 hours of talking, we refused to join. They eventually gave me SGD20 voucher at Tang.
we immediately went to Tang's and bought perfume.
Unless you are so sian during weekend, otherwise, don't go. -

I got one lady call me say I won some $200 voucher.....then say come down with your IC blah blah blah....
Since she's lady, I entertained her but after the call, I forgot their location and contact number already.....

i did get received calls claiming my parent won something from a lucky draw they took part and though they didnt win any prize, they got the info ( telephone , name) frm that coupon tat my parent dropped @ the supermarket.
dam... duno how those guys got the info from .. i mean coupon dropped in the box @ supermarket ? how save can ur personal info go? i mean tat includes ur IC number and address :S
usually the participants who won a prize would receive notification by post... never phone...
