it's true.
but on the other hand, it's proven that sunlight is good for humans.
1) Sunlight is food!
2) Ultraviolet (UV) rays from sunlight trigger vitamin D synthesis in the skin
3) Sunlight is important for cancer prevention because it is the best source of vitamin D
4) Scientists known for the best part of a century that sunlight makes vitamin D and that means healthy bones
5) Ideally, the best place to get vitamin D is from your skin being exposed to normal sunlight
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin which acts like a hormone, regulating the formation of bone and the absorption of calcium and phosphorus from the intestine. It helps to control the movement of calcium between bone and blood, and vice versa.

Regarding the excessive UV, it depends on which hour during the day you go for your sun tanning.
Also, only in winter season, the sunlight is not efficient to obtaining Vitamin D.
in short, sun is very good but too MUCH of it is unhealthy.
