It is a bad time for school leavers?

A Q for the graduates who just finished their education (for guys+ NS),do u think it's a bad time now with the unemployment and current singapore situation?
the current group of job seekers in their early 20s who did their last 2 decades studying , u probably spent your time during the 80s in primary school and 90s in sec school and poly
As i feel the great time was for the last decade school leavers like me had it easier as our peers in their late 20s and 30s.
We had a reasonable headstart in career. Had my job seeking time during the late 90s after graduating from poly in 98. Singapore is really changing fast. -
depends on wat kind of jobs u are seeking and the standard which u are willing to accept.

Well if you have starved a few days I think you will do it (at least temporarily) to get some $$$ to buy food and eat

I'm leaving this place after graduation.There is a lack of jobs that is suitable to my course.I will not study and plan my path for 16 years and end up working in a sector which I cannot evolve to my fullest, nor be able to challenge me.
Graduates are not choosy, they just do not want to waste their 4 years for nothing.Leave if you can find a job abroad, be daring and take up the challenge.It's your life, not the state to indirectly dictate what you can do or not.
Those friends and relatives of mine who took the plunge and moved abroad, they are doing quite well and often have this chilling realisation that life could have been very different.
Until the climate here changes, Singapore might only remain in my heart.Not a physical place where I place my feet on. -
I will go overseas to work if given the chance...

It is a bad time for existing workers, too. Many people in Singapore are gritting their teeth and tightening their belts to hang on.
Besides, fresh school-leavers may not have it that bad because they start out with not much commitments, their expecatations aren't that high and they are more mobile. The situation could be actually worse for the not-so-fresh retrenched middle-aged workers, who usually already have family commitments and housing loans to pay off, and relocation is not a viable option. -

Let's discuss where all of you intend to move out to, and any useful resources or information that are helpful for the masses here who yearn to move out. This place is sinking day by day, month by month, and year by year although the authorities think otherwise.

If you talk to the Singaporeans in Australia, you will realise that they can be more patriotic and sentimental about Singapore the land where they grew up, and equally full of hatred and anger at the way that its been run to the ground.Originally posted by dragg:there are lots of singaporeans in australia.

Our overseas voters are pro-Singapore but probably against the way that our country is run, which could be why overseas voting is probably very limited.
The empathy level is much higher there too, given that they do not the level of apathy that we are experiencing right now. -
is hard to find jobs ... no matter wat year u graduate ..... ...
i spend about 2yr plus to get my first perm job .......... so try hard ... juz keep sending ... heck care -
there is no good or bad time.
coz the good times are long over. -
I guess it depends on luck and how you convince the potential employer that you are the correct person for the job.

Ya now hard to get perm job. Most probably have to do contract/ part-time first.
Also pay will be low compared to the good times.
I remember when I was doing recruitment, my co. was paying fresh poly students $1500 (some with experience $1800), still cannot get pple. -
