[b]Lost handphone again...how to block use?[/b]

  Hi, I lost my phone and the person who picked it up sold it to another person. I know thru sheer luck......
  
  I heard that supplying the hp imei's number to the service provider - singtel, can block the phone from ever being used again. I tried to do so, but when i called singtel, they claim they dun have the service. i thought i read abt it somewhere in the ST before...any1 recall? Or any1 has any tips on this situation?

  call ur service provider, tell them u lost the fone, terminate the sim card
  
  they do have the service u are toking about
  but it's leh cheh and alotta procedures involved
  who going to bear the cost?

  Already terminated the sim card...just tat i feel shit tat someone profits from my phone loss and so i wanna bar the phone from ever being used again... and since the phone companies expect me to continue paying for the sim card and subscription charges, should not they bear some responsibilities to help me bar the phone too? what charges are there to bar the phone via my personalized imei number? then wat for i hv the imer number??? u any idea?

  help is for ppl who deserve it

  dats why hp are so dammed good to steal. i may not steal but selling is damm easy for me.

  dun be too quick to throw your judgements. i do not expect the telcos to compensate me or anything, i only expected them to offer some form of assistance like in customer service. dun tell me u dun expect assistance when the unfortunate befalls on you.

  when i lost my hp (drop in cab)
  i call them to terminate my sim card
  next morning go make police report
  go down Hello! to get replacement sim card (for free for 1st time)
  they waive the penalty of $150 to buy new hp w/o line
  
  i think tts the best they can do to someone who lost his/her hp oredi
  the hp is not their property, so they are not liable to help u with tracing and blocking usage.
  
  by the way, i worked in all 3 telcos before and this is the SOP
  though now i heard they do not need the police report oredi

  thanks for the info. i had called singtel and the only "help" their customer service agent gave me then was that "I could upgrade" my phone since i was already slightly more than 1 year into my contract.... that was why i was pissed...no other answer than that and the woman was not friendly.... I just needed another opinion. and i wanted to see if what was reported in the ST was real anot....
