IMO, many other countries you are comparing sg against have had hundreds of years of histories to develop their social grace, grow a love for their country and their countrymen.
In Sg, due to the govt's competence and great foresight, the country has improved tremendously, the people improved their standard of living very quickly... The ppl became more educated, more shrewed(think i got the spelling wrong) and more cultured (in terms of lifestyle enjoyment). We never had the time to create a sg identity, and most importantly, learn graciousness.
Its sad to see the bad behaviours the "Rich" manifest.
