How to change wallpaper, the "background" selection options

  How to change wallpaper, the "background" selection options are greyed out
  
  here's a picture to show my problem
  
  
  
  i recently fought with "about:blank" webpage hijacker and removed it's main annoyances, but still, it left me with a stupid desktop background and did funny stuff to hide my display tabs (which i restored) and last of all, the "background" selection
  does anyone know how to "ungrey" the "greyed" listbox area? so that i can select a new wall paper
  
  can experts please help?

  Errr, select the picture you want as background, open with windows fax and picture viewer, right click and set as background?

  depends on his problem. Mine was even tho i did wat u said, the background stayed the same..no matter what. I think it was cool web search crap

  Then he's screwed, anyway he never requested a permanent solution, so I'll just keep mum.

  put the shut down screen as your wallpaper. very confusing
