  i dun really carry my bag all the way down... but like a bit more than halfway down...less fuss to put on the bag(esp in a bus) when there is little space.
  Anyways my bag aint as heavy as me sister's...she duznt have ultra long straps tho...

  That's where you are wrong... it is heavier when the straps are longer... why? because the CG is brought furthur away from the shoulders(acting as a pivot)... creating a higher moment (i think some call it torque)...
