Harddrives...recommendations?

  Im thinking of getting a new hard drive..what are your opinions/recommendations? The brands I had in mind are:
  
  1.) Western Digital
  2.) Seagate
  3.) Samsung
  4.) Maxtor
  
  I heard Samsung is the no.1 memory chip maker in the world but Im not sure if the same applies to its hard drives. Also Im not really sure bout Maxtor brand. Can anyone help?

  Western Digital.
  
  Maxtor got bad reputation of failing but i've hand no issues of them for 3 yrs.
  
  Samsung not bad, so it's either WD, Samsung or Hitachi/IBM.

  I still have question mark for Samsung..but no doubt on WD..but my supplier ran out of stock. Im thinking of using the harddrive as external storage..is it possible to get Hitachi/IBm that way? Or issit only as OEM?

  u wanna use as external hdd any brand oso can use, u just need to get a casing for the hdd..

  I go for reliability. I heard 1 month ago got this taiwan company release this casing..jus clip on...no need for screws, etc. But i forgot what the brand was

  i had no issues with maxtor.
  been using this brand for my past 2 pc

  Just go SLS and ask around the better shops like Fuwell, Cybermind, Laser, HardwarePlace, Bell etc... actually now casings all the same, only either got fan or no fans... i doubt casing will spoil so easily.
  
  As for hdd, i'd just got for WD

  Seagate loh, made in ang mo kio, bendemeer or even toa payoh is good run for the money.

  I have using a WD for almost three years and no problem.
  
  But i heard Segate is very reliable and got 5 years warranty.
