Uh..what I am trying to say is...creatures adapt to their surroundings. If it is indeed a dinosaur, it probably had its shape to defend itself from other dinos last time right ? So now after million of years(and there are no other dinos ard..), it would and should have adapted to a smaller form or just somehow different to suit its environment. but octopi (or is it octopuses?) in tests have proven to be very intelligent.. able to solve puzzles like a screwtop cap...
and cuttlefish have been observed in a lab to be able to recognise different humans...
squid, however, have not been tested that extensively...
and nautilus are pretty rare and untested too...

and yah.. no one has observed or even seen a live giant squid.. although lots of grapefruit-sized beaks have been found in the stomachs of sperm whales suggest that they are around 70 feet long

But in the interest of science, I guess regardless of its size, people would want to study it.
