I attended this AGM. And when one of the directors proposed a resolution for the company to pay director fees of a 6 digit number,during the vote, quite a lot of ppl in the room raise up their hands while only a few opposed it.
Why the shareholders so stupid? 
I think its unjustified for directors to be paid a 6 digit salary -

I think its pretty obvious that when I mention a 6 digit figure, the decimal point is after the last digit. Hehehe...the fact is minority shareholders don't lose much or significantly enough to worry them about the 6 digits figure. Think they only want to be able to enjoy the usually grand buffet afterwards and their dividends only give them 3 digits at the most...so as long as those are met consistently, people are easily contented.
The shareholders that usually objects are those with larger shares cos they're jealous/dissatisfied/unhappy/pissed/lamenting that they've put in almost all their savings into this company and their dividends don't grow proportionally with the salary-adjustment rate of the directors.
But thanks to them, this world is getting alot more interesting by the years.

Btw, Its the observers of the AGM that are one of the first person to make a beeline for the buffet table. By the time I reach the table, the chicken pie no more liao. -
the 6 digit director's fees is paid yearly or monthly? maybe the company had performed exceptionally well last year to justify such a bonus to the directors? anyway director's fees will be adjusted every year and subject to approval at every AGM wat... so maybe should look at how the director has performed over the last year, whether profits have increased so much to justify the amount etc...
i believe most companies', especially the bigger ones, pay their directors at least 5 or 6 digits.... so it's probably just the market rate
i've nv attended AGMs so i dunno how it works... maybe can just raise ur hand and ask why they are paying their directors this amount and see if they can justify it for u? -

well...the comapany have yet to declare dividends bcos it just started up not too long ago. But I just feel uneasy about a 6 digit figure....

Well, SMRT pays their CEO less than 500k a year. If you dont pay ppl like Dr Richard Hu or Peter Seah 400k a year, would they even want to sit on the Board of Directors and head the comapany?
