...you express a desire to be a christian or a catholic? When I told my mum I wanted to go CHC, she immediately stop whatever she was doing and ask "what for?". I told her I wanted to go there and see see. She made such a big fuss that I feel scared telling her further. Then my dad further warn me not to anyhow convert blah blah.
Do your parents react in such a strong manner too? -

seriously i guess you parents are "fanatics" and thus belief that other religions are heresy and thus do not want their son involved.
but can go chc to go and check out the girls there lah i heard got nice view been thinking of going down but up tp now still haven't yet cos too lazy -

My family is the traditional chinese family with a buddhist upbringing. So maybe their outburst is expected, but I wonder if other people of my age experience such things too....

Although my family is buddist, my sister became a Christian. My parents gave her hell but she went ahead anyway. I guess sometimes when faith calls, nothing else matters.

Being traditional doesnt mean they look down on other religions.
It is simply they are not that open minded to embrace diversity or fear what they do not know.
Just go slow on it. -
No offence but my cousin just convert to Christian recently and after that he keeps telling us to join Church and say that Buddhist and Taoism is all crap.
I hate it!

now adays ppl don't join christianity because of wat bible teaches u . But rather its a kind of social trend to be a christian. Its as though u will miss out alot of outings with frens if u are not a christian. Wat i wanna say its don't blind convert to other religion when u donno wat urs do.
i got a fren who is not a christian but he go church. And he frequently attend buddhist social gathering which teaches Buddhism, christianity,islamic teaching.
And he chose to be a buddhist simply because he know wat is all the 3 of them about. Not just know 1 of them and join it. He made a choice between 3 but i think most ppl in this planet made a choice between 1. To become a christian or not to be a christian. -
