Coldplay's new album

  Need some help here guys. Has anyone of you bought Coldplay's new album, "X & Y"? I've read on the Straits Times forum that the copy protection on the CD does not allow one to rip the songs using iTunes, which is what I want to do. Is that true?
  
  I was thinking of buying the album until I read about this. I own an iPod mini and would rather use that to listen to the music rather than my old discman.
  
  Anyway, I've bought copy-protected CDs before and ripped them into my iPod using iTunes, so I wonder is it any different with this Coldplay CD?

  since you've bought it, and if you cannot rip, you can download the album...
  
  and it'll be legal for you to download since you've already bought the CD

  I don't use MP3s anyway so I won't have any problems...I have yet to buy it though and my fingers are itching.
  
  P.S. I have it now. There is a label which informs the buyer that the CD is copy-controlled (on mine, at least), so open your eyes.

  I haven't bought it yet. Anyway, do you think it's worth buying? I listened to it at HMV yesterday, and it didn't sound that impressive as it's hyped up to be.

  That's up to you. But 'A Rush Of Bloof To The Head' was always going to be difficult to match, let alone top.

  Same old boring stuff. There's probably hundreds of bands like coldplay now, why crave for their new album? Should get white stripes' get behind me satan

  Yes, I think 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' is perhaps Coldplay's best album yet, or as some might say, ever. Maybe I'll save my money and not buy 'X & Y' after all.
  
  By the way, I read on yesterday's Straits Times forum that the copy-protection still allows you to rip songs off the CD. Now I wonder, if this is so, then what is the copy-protection for?

  For show. There are apps that reportedly allow you to rip right thru the "for-show" protection. I'm not obligated to disclose the name of this app as I have yet to try it on a few copy protected cds I have since I am nowhere near them. :lo:
