CRC error?

  Error #48
  Sector not found..
  
  What does this error mean?
  
  I'm trying to reformat my notebook. I put in the recovery cd (Disc 1-3). I got this error on the last disc. I have not put in the win XP home edition SP1 cd yet.
  
  Anyone can help?

  Cyclic Redundancy Check. It means the disc is screwed.
