Singaporean Over worked

I work in this company ... suppose to finish work at 6 pm ... but everyone go home at 9 pm some even stay until 2 am ... most of them are overloaded they simply cant meet the deadline let alone finish their work... but the company dun care at all even thot its making good profit... we are give glorified designation such as executive,specialist, facilator , assistant Manager...means no OT ... most of my col have no life ...work everyday come back on sunday and holiday.. think this is utter misery.. however I notice this is quite common in SG ... some even paid peanut to the tune of $1.5 K only!!

Maybe talk to the superiors....
I feel that a truly efficient company doesnt require their staff to always work OT...An occassional one is ok...but not everyday....

The sad thing is some work places have a culture of doing OT where people who leave on the dot, regardless of work performance, are deemed too free or slackers. -
It really depends on the type of employer....some employers do listen..cos they might not b really aware of what is gg on..since they leave the running of the company to managers....and they only pop in the company once awhile..Originally posted by dragg:you think employers could be bothered?

If they leave punctually and yet do their work sloppily...then....its another story... -
did u spend all ur time working? break time not counted ehz (like when u come to the forum)
whether u r overworked, also depends on your hourly rate
do u have more flexible hrs, or other forms of employee benefits -
if only all superiors are so fair and sensible...

We singaporeans dun work smart. Then we suffer from peer pressure.
When someone works OT, they think it's the norm and follow. Seriously, instead of efficiency, it has become rot.
We see the japs and taiwanese as workaholics. But at least they are productive. The only thing we can compare 'proudly' is the number of OT we've clocked compared to them.
I'd say we're on the road to stupidity.
And many stat boards and gahmen agencies reward OT....plain dumb.
