Ok if a person dress like auntie/uncle, but expect others to treat them like babes and hunk. Would anyone seriously take that kind of attention as flattering or just a touch of sacarcism? I would be insulted if people think I am a babe cause I don't dress so and don't want that kind of attention. Some people like the attention and will go to the ends of the earth to get it.
Anyways, it takes 2 to clap. If you don't dress your age or in the manner befitting, then people would treat you as you present yourself.
For example: I am always in old jeans and out-dated T-shirts. Most office people don't take me seriously. And worse, most students ,especially females look me up and down and snub me. But I know that my "package" don't look "office" enough. Don't look updated student enough. So I expected that kind of "feedback" from people. Some days I just feel like an office shark and I do the full office suit thing. You can imagine people kow-tao and pay my clothes the respect instead of paying me the respect.
BTW, I've noticed a lot of females who can't make it and don't have the money, but is willing to dress up like 1000 bucks and get respect for it. Lots of sales people pay respect to your clothes and your package (only place I know is slightly better is robinsons, cause I get snubbed everywhere, even in jewelery shops where I want to buy a diamond solitaire and can easily afford it on cash. I never buy on credit.).
Its not just men. Its just human to be shallow. Someone once told me to look at a guy's shoes and watch to see if he is rich because this is what salesperson judge you. So I know men who splash out on these things. For a women, its how well she puts herself together even if she spend 500% of her salary to do it. She gets the attention she sets up to get. But know this. For everything people want, there is a price. The attention the chio person gets is also "short lived" because , in the past, I've seen office chiobus sent to "cold palace" because a better/newer chiobu with more fire power come in and all the men flock there.
The other aspect is that this chiobu might know how to say or flirt. So men just like honey words and stick around her lah. My chiobu also got lots of men calling her up all the time and giving her free stuff. Some guys tells me she so friendly and etc. Yeah, she sure know how to talk cause she talk her way up to team lead level even without the years of experience or qualifications. But when having to work with her, its another issue. But eventually some guys found out she's one the most shallow and selfish person who backstabs others. And realise her "friendliness" is just an act. People eventually know.
My take is that the auntie maybe wanted to be left alone. But if the auntie really want a change, perhaps she can go for the makeovers or just get clothes, hair style and makeup that makes her look younger and better.
And you ask why I dress the way I do? I like to play with people's head. I see the same people everyday and I see their reaction and It gives me a general idea what kind of people I am dealing with. Besides, I think its cheaper and less hassle than to maintain all the "packaging" like all those chiobu. I get hand-down clothes and so I should not complain.
