  think jue dui superstar is more practical...coz winner can maybe break into the taiwan market and really become reputable...if he/she has the luck...

  there's more future for chinese singers..look at tanya chua,she was a english singer,but she switched to chinese songs...at least now she's reputable in taiwan,hk and china...her song shuang qi tong wu quite famous....

  I hope not. To begin with
  
  1) America has diversity and size which Singapore really lack. The American Idol can still run for many more sessions and will still not be lacking of new faces with fresh talent.
  
  2) You can see it in the American. They not only singing somebody's else song but adding dimensions to them (often multi-dimensions to their songs). It is about individuality, creativity and respecting music genre. It is in their culture and not faking it. Can we come any closer?
  
  3) America being an entertainment hub of the world has maturing audience base. Looking at the first Singapore Idol. Who are the base supporters? - mostly screaming teen girls. No wonder two dudes got into the final and not gals.
