wong siblings

hi all... i know this is kinda old news, but was watching "Scoop" on channel U yesterday and finally got to know a little more abt watz going on... already read from papers that they used to be extremely well-to-do but aft their father had passed away, their business failed and i think i read that they were swindled or smthing...
my query is that how come they dun have any savings of any sort during their better days and how come, despite both holding a "N"/"O"-level cert n have knowledge of english n chinese, they were still unable to get a job?
saw on last nite's prog that they did try to find but only near the vicinity of their hm, n they refuse to sign any contract... i mean, their situation is already so bad so why is it that they still hiam so many things?
anybody sympathize with them here? for myself, i cant get pass the fact that they were unwilling to find properly despite being physically well and had proper education... so i can hardly empathize with them... -

If i were them I wouldnt even dare to show my face on national TV...
wad a shame... they could have done something better with their lives.. -
oh.. i read that thread, but that was asking abt the presenter more than asking abt the wong siblings...
wanted to see if anyone sympathize with them or not... anyway last nite's prog featured a little on the interview with the MP, and from what he had said, aft the sale of the house, the siblings began demanding more things like ezlink cards with values that will last time for a couple of mths etc..
i mean, taking all these funny requests into acct, i wonder how many out there will take pity on them... -

they seeked the CASE director's help to sell their 4 room flat and made a clean 160k cash in profit. a 1 room rental flat was also arranged.
what i cannot stand was what they said:
when neighbours offered them help - "we dont want to get handouts"
when neighbours left food outside his house - "we dont want to eat coz we are afraid of getting sick after eating the food"
when asked to sign a contract for a job - "we dont want to sign a contract for fear of having to pay if we breached the contract"
and many more that i cant remember. -
i thot there were special arrangements made for them to get some welfare first b4 the 160k is credited to them? if i m not mistaken, it might include water and electricity...
for me, wat i cant stand is the fact that they din go find a proper job... although they did mention that they tried to find one near their hm, when they were asked what kind of jobs they wanted, they replied wash dishers...
they were only in this state probably since 8-10yrs ago... at that time, they were only 40yrs old at most... cant be that no one wants to take them in rite? simple cashiering jobs, manufacturing industry operators etc... they pay decent enuff for a person to get by mah...
that's why i wanted to know if anyone actually can find a reason to sympathise with them... -

they are number 1 in terms of being fussy. they want the job to be near home, provide for meals and must be cleaners. funny right. the brother dont want to sign contract.Originally posted by mercurialz:

anyway there is no welfare involved. the utilities (3k) and home loan (50k) will be deducted from the sales proceeds of the flat. they are plain weird, fussy, lazy and whatnot!!!
just cannot understand why they would rather live a pathetic life then seek help or work.
fill and carry 20 to 30 bottles of water home everyday. how tedious!!! might as well work right? -
