pain in the eye after wearing contact lens

have been wearing disposable contact lenses for some time. but of late, after wearing the lenses for a few hours (much less than the duration i used to wear them for), my left eye will start to pain, even though it doesnt really feel dry. it's getting me worried! anyone has any idea what could be the cause?

you're either wearing the wrong side.. or your eyes are too dry.. it happens to me when im in an aircon room sometimes, always have eye drops with you =D

How do one know if one is wearing the wrong side?

erm.. usually the correct side would look like a bowl when placed on your fingertips.. and the wrong side would look like a plate..

Other than the dryness and wearing of the wrong side that may be accountable for the pain u're experiencing, u may wanna pay attention to other areas like whether the pain is due to infection of the cornea. Sometimes the surface of the eye (the area where it is in contact with the lenses) maybe scratched, causing bacteria to thrive in the infected area when u do not wash the lenses clean. So i advise you if the pain still persist (normally accompanied with tearing and redness), you have to seek attention from eye specialist for only they have the specialised equipments to observe the surface of the eyeballs. Not trying to scare you, personally i have came across such worrying problems when i wore lenses last time. It actually got very bad that the eye developed cornea ulcers. The pain was excruciating and i couldn't wear lenses anymore... Please do not hesitate to see an eye specialist if the pain persist, let him/her do a thorough check on ur eyes and see if anything unusual is happening before it is too late cos in severe cases of cornea ulcers, it may lead to scarring of the cornea surface (in this case, one could not wear lenses anymore due to the pain encountered everytime u wear it) or even worse, it may lead to blindness. Do not worry, if there really is ulcers or inflamed scratches on the surface of the eyes, the specialist will normally prescribed you with antiseptic eye lotion to apply every few hours. Your eyes will need plenty of rest and no lenses to be worn for quite sometime til the wound has completely recovered.
I hope in your case it's not due to anything bad, it may simply be dryness or incompatibility of the lenses u're wearing. Juz stay cautious and hygiene is really impt in the cleanliness of the contact lenses.

See an eye doc for a checkup, maybe there's an infection/ tear in yr cornea.
They have special equipment to exam yr eyes

anyway the pain in my eye goes off after i remove the lens. does that mean anything?
i can quite sure i am wearing the correct side, cos i check before putting it on.
just one "anomaly" - my left eye seems to be rather sensitive. i can put on and take off the lens from my right eye rather easily, but with my left eye, putting it on is not an issue, but taking off the lens can be so damned difficult, cos my left eye is somehow very sensitive to the movement of my fingers to remove the lens. and a few times, this has caused my finger to "scrap" my cornea while removing the lens, causing momentary pain and blurness. could the accumulated effect of these cause the pain now?
