NKF Cancer Fund

This year alone we donate for Kidney patients. Now they want us to give to cancer patients. We already have the S'pore Cancer Society- why duplicate?
Can't wait for the show to be over. So many trailers on TV every day.
Pity the TCS stars also. Have to put up so many shows in 1 yr. -
they stopped being a charity and became a corporation..
now they're doing what corporations are doing.. diversifying

Seriously, the Singapore Cancer Society don't have the gutso to carry out such a large money-making, fund-raising fiasco.
And btw, the Cancer Society is running alot of those "on-the-spot" sign up donation drives handled by 3rd party contractors. I hate to sign up with those too.... I donated twice and found out that this way of donating incurred me an admin charge of $0.40 each transaction....
Not tat i hiam the $0.40 but that the fund-raising effort is tagged with price.... not carried out voluntarily....

Charity Show? It's becoming more like Lucky Draw show. Look at all the
prizes!!!!
Instead of A NKF CANCER FUND SHOW, let's have a ALL-IN-ONE CHARITY SHOW where donors can donate directly to a specific charity organisation. For e.g. code for NKF is 000, KDF is 001, etc. That way, every organisation gets some donation. Right now, NKF sapu all!

Hi. Recently an ex-accountant with NKF had revealed that NKF had billions of $ reserve. Why dont they use some for cancers patiens?
I have read a report once saying that out of the $1 donated to these charity organisation, not more $0.40 (cannot remember the ratio) goes to the patients. The rest of the $0.60 (approx) will be used for the company's whole year's operation cost, stage cost, lucky draws prizes, etc etc. & SSHhhh ...... some said the CEO's luxurious car.... -
I hate the Shows on Prime Time. Using Emotional Blackmail everyone to feel guilty and donate to a organization that leeches on the people !! -

as i told them before, the money i set aside for donations will be given to the St Vincent de Paul's of my parish... and the funds are ALL turned into things to help the poor

Ok sometimes, these illnesses cannot be prevented. And people are not able to afford the medical bills. However, some people purposely never take care of themselves - Ji Shi Xing Le. Go visit pros, eat oily food, never exercise, eat heaty food, drink, smoke etc... Then they fall ill and NKF fund them, show them so poor thing on TV. But, I feel that these group of people destroy their own lives. Why should we pay for them?
ie, I had an uncle like this - we are unfortunate to have such a relative. -
speaking of which.... i used to donate towards the Singapore Children's Society and sell their donation draw tickets. I did this for quite a few years liao..... as I felt tat children are innocent and deserve our help whenever we can afford it... however, after seeing their new beautiful office building, i also disheartened. This year I did not sign up to sell tickets but I still made a cash donation but I am not sure what i will do next year tho....

NKF aside. i cannot agree with what you said. nobody wants to get sick, at least not seriously sick. there are lots of people who eat oily food, never exercise, eat heaty food, drink and smoke. but it is not a crime. it is common to find such people. this is not a reason to refuse donation.Originally posted by mistyblue:

All these are contributive lifestyle factors these people choose to live and could possibly lead to the downfall of their health. I don't think anyone can live unhealthily and expect to be in prime condition. No one wants to fall sick. Sure my uncle when he squandered his inheritance, lived as if there's no tomorrow, screw other pros, destroyed his life. He think he very healthy too, he never think he could fall ill from his lifestyle. So if he asks for money from you, and you knew about his lifestyle. Would you give money to him to let him drink, smoke and etc.
Sometimes, we make assumptions and assume that people don't want to fall sick. But their actions and lifestyle choices are all going against what they wish - to be healthy. So I question if some of these people do feel responsible about their own health issues. -

Media-corpse artist have to rely on the charity show for performance allowance.
Or else they will be at pasar malam selling Ka Jian Bu Tea.
The charity show also bring about huge amount of advertisement fund for the tv and radio station.
As for WHO pay for the charges, it is YOU have the compassion to DONATE and EAGER to WIN BIG PRIZES that is footing the bills.
So, it is money from you to Sing-tell to NK-F to Media-corpse and then a little bit to the paitents.
If you realy want to support, just donate directly to Singapore Cancer Society with no fancy stuff attached.
Or else you are just Vegetable Head for the Sing-Tell, NK-F and MC artist. -
If you want to donate to some Cancer Fund, why not donate to the hospital one?
Money goes to the needy patients' medical fee and also to doctor's research on new cancer treatments.
